View Full Version : What we fear the most...

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most.
We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that
people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us.
And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”

Clowns and the dark

Clowns for sure, as a kid. The Wizard of Oz totally freaked me out as a kid. I still have not watched the entire thing and I am a huge movie buff.

ET scared the shite outta me.

And slipping in the shower, instinctively reaching for the curtain, pulling it off, falling and knocking myself unconscious, then having the plastic curtain land over my mouth, eventually suffocating me.

Scary shite right there.

Its good to see im not the only one who thinks this way. How can you trust a grown adult who cleverly disguises himself with face paint and funny clothing to gain your trust, so he can gain access into your home and hypnotize you with balloon creations. Its a little TOO clever for my liking.....

i dont think its all thast much about god rather than its ourselves that bring us down from time to time for fear of being all that we can be. we CAN be all that we want to be if we just gave ourselvs a lil credit for being the powerful beings that we are.

It is about that, and you made sense, but that quote puts too much emphasis on God being responsible for what we can be capable of and that's just not the case.

i agree with you about the god thing.... it is us ourselves that make or break anything. god donst make us the men/women we are, WE do.

I guess you live your life in constant despair...in constant fear my friend.

Just try to accept it my friend, and the world will be a better place for you.

Bringing this thread back to seriousness.

I fear the most that one day I'll have a knock at the door. A police officer will be there to say one of my children will not be coming home.

I hate living in the county and knowing they will be driving on the high way between here and the city. Tonight my university aged daughter came in at 1..I was upset..why didn't she call earlier to say when she would be home?

My other fear is my husband..he travels now 3 out of 4 weeks each month across the world. I fear I'll turn on the tv and see his plane crashed in the Orient.

I just recently lost my mother in law...she lived a full life..my teens have not.

I had a pretty good upbringing---private school, good friends, big home..., but was secluded from the world by my parents...it was in my early to mid 20s that I started running with the wrong people--I felt rebellious. I used bodybuilding to give me SIZE and intimidation along with it.
I've had guns at my head, I've been in really bad situations (by choice) and today I am thankful and feel lucky that nothing harmed me permanently. I can get a gov job, I can get a job anywhere in the world..no tattoos---my mid 20s was a part of me and I left it behind/.

My fear for a lot of things in life is almost non-existent. With all that to say, I DO respect and follow/obey the laws, I am a good citizen and it has been at least 8 years since I left bad friends and the party life.--I never robbed or killed.

The only person alive who I fear is my mom. That lady can bring me to my knees. I also fear God, he is our creator---but I won't and will never push that topic on anybody.

Aside from humans:

I fear being broke---
I fear when my pecker does not work well, due to heavy cycles
I fear not having access to gear--WTF
