Some time ago I read about using glutamine to suppress carbohydrate cravings.

Does anyone know more info about it?

Thanks

Here's a study I found stating that Glutamine actually synthesizes glucose...hence the carb craving suppression.

My buddy studying Kinesiology has also confirmed this.

You release GH and testosterone during sleep therefore waking up to take anything is stupid.

I posted a long write up on nexus about it,,,,and it definitely works....Im to lazy to dig it up so go hunting warlock.......chrisitined posted a q about how to suppress cravings.....
Glutamine has many great functions, one is not building muscle mass, at all, but definitely helps cravings, digestion etc, etc..

I agree. Taking 15-20 grams BEFORE bed with 10 grams of BCAA's is a great way to encourage recovery after an especially hard back or legs day. Waking up and ruining your REM sleep to take supplements is a waste of time and money. Melatonin and 5-HTP work well for keeping me asleep when I need to sleep until my alarm wakes me up. Taking glutamine before bed has helped my recovery times on workouts, especially when used with BCAA's.

glutamine doesnt even have an effect unless you take super high doses. most of what you take is absorbed and used by the intestines.......doesnt even get to where you want it to go......it does help your immune system though.....but its a money grab imho......

Glutamine is bogus. It does help the intestines but it doesn't reach the bloodstream. I peruse a site where they tried various analogues of glutamine to try and get it into the blood. And when they found one that did it converted into glutamic acid and left them wired/headachy/etc. Glutamic acid is a neurotransmitter and too much will leave your brain fried. So my point is if it somehow did get into the bloodstream you wouldn't sleep and feel good at all.

Dan Duchaine came out with a product that put holes into your gut so the glutamine could pass through. F'ing crazy but I did buy some but sure I never acutally took it after doing a quick read on the net.
