Do you use (or have you used) a trainer/nutritionist? I am not talking about some CanFit Pro flake either. I am talking about Logue, Binetti, Abel, Rambod..etc.

A good trainer/nutritionist is worth their weight in gold when you're prepping for a show, and even if you don't want to compete but still want to take your physique to the next level it will probably be one of the best investments you can make.

EDIT - Personally I'd also say that its better to have a trainer that lives in the same area as you so you can see them face to face regularly. I've done the long distance thing and having your trainer get a good read on your condition from photos just isn't as productive.

i think for a first timer doing his first contest it is very important. Im working with someone in my offseason leading up to next years 2009 fall , where ill compete for the first time and i think its good that he knows how ive been eating/training/cardio in the offseason to effectively transition me into a contest prep for the first time. Vet's and people who know their bodies for competing can probably have more success on their own

used trainers for my first show and would recommend paying the money with this word of caution. Research your trainers carefully and make sure you are in line with their training philosophy cause if you start to question what they are doing with you mid diet prep you are going to be pissed.
First trainers I choose based on reputation and their personality, they got me in the best shape I had ever been in! Problem is when I questioned some of the recommendations they gave me I received alot of ego and attitude.
Second show went with new trainers and was very pleased with the results and liked them very much. I used same trainers for the provincials only to find that level of competition was out of their league.
This off season I am working with Rob Challifoux and am very pleased with the comunication, explaination and willingness to discuss options based on my specific needs.
