I see a LOT of disillusionment. Hell even people in Kenya think they are going to get showered with food and money. He inherited a bankrupt nation so deep in debt that McCain is probably glad he didn't win. Good luck to Obama, he is going to need it.

BTW 96% of blacks voted for Obama. While not surprising, you only need to look to Africa to see where tribal politics will take your nation. Imagine if 96% of whites voted for McCain? Riots in the streets. Whites voted for issues (not all though) while blacks voted based on race. Doesn't bode well at all.

Its wasnt a dumb call. It was pure genius, just like 911.

Obama was meant to be president, otherwise, the people that really run the country would have put forth a republican with more charisma. Its divide & conquer, now half the country hates the other half and are distracted from the real issue. (as usual), because thats all these elections are designed to do, divide the country and offer a distraction. I find it laughable that some naive sheep think that any President of the USA is anything more that a script reading chimp. People are really ****in stupid. **** YOU stupid people! EAT SHIT!!! LOL

And, when Bush was elected it was not only corporate America, but corporate Saudi and the religous right in the US that made himt he man.

Bush, the guy who can't find a coherent sentence with a flashlight and two hands elected President of the United States. No help there huh? At least with Obama there is hope that comes from someone intelligent and from someone who didn't grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Agreed. I was watching the coverage last night and the commentators were saying with glee that almost 100% of the black vote went to Obama. My first thought was the same as yours. Could you imagine the backlash if the same was true for McCain and the commentator said almost 100% of white vote went to McCain? I suspect the tone would have been quite different. The term racist would be on the front page of every newspaper in the world. This situation is racism and should be treated as such.

Le'ts not get too crazy here. The black vote has alway gone to the Dems it just to happens that instead of the usual 80% - 85% it was 95%. Blacks and women tend to vote Dems. Corporate America and religious right vote rep. Everyone else sways from one party to another based on who it is that's singing their song more than the other guy.

He only won 51% of the popular vote, hardly a landslide victory. The country is as divided as it was before. It will get even worse if he does not fix things quickly, which I doubt will happen. You will then have whites blaming blacks for voting based on race. You will have blacks realizing he is not the messiah. I do not see this ending well.

Yep, it will get worse before it gets better thanks to the instant gratification mentality of western culture. You'll probably see the headlines on Fox next week going "Oh ****, it snowed, Obama hasn't turned the world to sunshine and rainbows, what a failure".

I'm happy to see that he got the majority of the overall votes, but seriously its not the 51% that voted for Obama we should be talking about.... 48% voted for an old guy who isn't fit to be behind the wheel of a car and a woman who isn't qualified to be night manager at a 7-11, that's ****ing scary. The irony here is that republicans fielded a pair of candidates that were laughable compared to some of their other options (Romney, Huckabee, Ron Paul) and they still managed to pull out this result with a campaign based on fear and smears....but we're sitting here talking about the racism of black voters. Surreal ain't it. :D

Well saw a some stuff on TV last night.

Idiots think that he is the Messiah, others have hope that he will fix things but everybody forgets one thing: this is politics the art of bargaining and the president is just another player in this game a puppet and nothing much more than that (look at Bush) his handlers take the decisions and the president is just a face.

My hope (living in a country where the PM is willingly subservient to the US president) is that he follows some of his liberal stand points making our PM have more humanitarian and intelligent actions instead of cutting GST when there is a lack of vision for health education, arts, sports and all those other overrated stuff that really don't matter as equality among Canadians.

China showed its face this past summer already, the world economy is pure chaos, USA is in a make or break point.

People welcome to the 21st century it just started!

Warlock,

Harper was never presidents lapdog. He like the powers that be in any country, is controlled by the people who make the most money in business. They will do what is right in their eyes and make him toe the line. Now that China is starting to spend money I can see the Canadian businesses starting to look to the east as a source of income.

This US is heading for a shitstorm, and Obama is riding the wave.

Knowing how left leaning the media is I am sure the "love in" will continue for quite some time. The "old guy" is one of the most respected and seasoned polititions in America. Experience is something that should be welcomed. If you call into question the qualifications of Palin as the #2 you would have to seriously need to call into question the qualifications of Obama as #1.

tony_canuck
05-11-2008, 01:16 PM
i don't like either of them....the only thing that worries me if he tries to scrap our Nafta deal to give the US a better edge, which he's hinted at. Since the rust belt states like Michigan are already in recession (unemployment is over 11% there and rising) to try and save jobs he might give businesses incentives and car companies incentives to set-up shop there instead of Canada, which there are rules in the current Nafta agreement.....that and raising taxes in a recession never makes sense, but getting out of a war that's costing them billions is a good idea....so overall both are crap LOL

....left leaning media? ....Obama unqualified? While I respect your right to hold these opinions its worth noting that only the most far-right dittoheads down in the US have held on to these memes and usually they are repeated with the "Secret Communist", "Secret Muslim", "Secret Terrorist" lines. Most progressive conservatives have moved away from the lefty media thing simply because they are unable to ignore the blatant partisan nature and massive influence of right wing talk radio, fox news, and the performance of the bulk of the media in not taking GWB to task for the last 8 years.

The unqualified Obama line was thrown out with the bath water when McCain decided to try and become the "Hope and Change" candidate and its been debated adnauseum by talking heads on all the networks and blogs for the last.... how long has this campaign been going on again?

At this point all we can do is wait and see what the future will hold, but the basic facts of life haven't changed:

Wrong! I'm pissed because this election turned into a racist sham. A massive majority of the black vote was based soley on race, not policy. I couldn't care less what colour the man or woman is. My only regret is that Ron Paul isn't black, the black community would be happy and i would be happy because here was the only politician that had policy's in place that would have taken America out of the melt down they are in, and in turn we Canadian's would benifit from their prosparity.

Make no mistake, their downfall will be our downfall...

President Obama lays out his comprehensive approach to addressing both the economic and fiscal crises facing the nation, and stresses the need to end the era of profound irresponsibility that has brought us to where we are today. Given on February 24, 2009, this was his first address to a joint session of Congress.
