The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Drug Section seized over 2 kilograms of anabolic steroid powder at a residence in Prince George, British Columbia on Halloween. A joint operation between the Prince George RCMP and Canadian Border Services Agency uncovered the steroid powder coming into Canada from China. The recipient of the Chinese steroid powder faces various drug distribution charges including the importation of a controlled substance (anabolic steroids) into Canada (”Police execute Halloween drug bust,” November 1).

In the past two weeks alone, law enforcement in British Columbia has arrested individuals for importing and/or distributing anabolic steroids in Victoria, North Vancouver, and now Prince George. Are the recent steroid busts a harbinger of a major steroid crackdown in British Columbia in preparation for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games? The privilege of hosting the Olympic Games is usually accompanied by increased pressure on the host city (and host country) to step up their anti-doping efforts via law enforcement.

Canadian authorities have previously targeted the importation of steroid powder from China. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) cooperated with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in ‘Operation Powder Keg‘ in 2007.

Canada’s Operation Powder Keg was one of several international operations (e.g. Operation Kasha in Australia) that was initiated by the far-reaching U.S. government law enforcement initiative codenamed Operation Raw Deal. The various international operations cracked down on underground labs (UGLs) that imported raw steroid powder from China to manufacture finished anabolic steroid products. While Operation Raw Deal shut down numerous UGLs and spawned further steroid busts, Operation Powder Keg had limited effects on UGLs in Canada.

But this is ok!!??

Scientists offer revolutionary news: now we can fight for beautiful figure with the help of special pills! Researchers developed two drugs which can mobilize internal reserves of our body and help develop muscles and burn fat without getting out of that comfy couch. The developers optimistically state that those pills will help stay in great shape at all time even to those people who do not like putting themselves through the trouble of working out. Both drugs have special effect on a particular gene which is connected to the muscle development and maintenance of muscle tone.

Experiments have shown that lab mice could run extra 68% when given the magic drug. Interesting enough, the greater the distance the more the drug enhances the organism’s stamina. The scientists believe that the drugs will have similar effect on people. Furthermore, how much the pills effect our body does not depend on the physical state of the organism. The results of this study were published in the Cell magazine.

The head of the research team, molecular biologist Ronald Evans, expressed his hopes that the drug, if allowed for public usage, will replace workouts for anyone who spends most of his or her life sitting or for the in-bed patients.

At the same time, the medics are cautious since athletes when struggling for best results on the competition may abuse usage of those fitness-pills. The scientists have developed a special test as a way to prevent such actions; the test will help them test for presence of those drugs in the person’s blood and urine.

The side effects of the drugs have not been reported yet.

This will start happening more leading up to the olympics. I guess steroids are now on the list of priorities for the RCMP.

Stay legit, it's the safest way. Freedom of expression allows us to freely speak about AAS and how to use them. Speaking about how to obtain them is somewhat illegal in itself so stay away from that. Of course importing powders is illegal and selling them.

Follow the basic rules of any bodybuilding site and all shall be alright on the net. Remember not to do anything illegal on CBB. Even in PM's.

Probably not wise to dabble in AAS nowadays.

As MP stated and has been stated in other threads, "the cleanup has begun". It is telling that all the busts are on the west coast. I suspect there will be more coming up to the Olympics and once the games are over it will be back to usual.

I am really curious as to what lab or individual this was as there should have been some talk down the lines. And seeing how they referred to the M1T "busts" in the same article it actually make me wonder exactly what the 2 kilos of raw material was...

I'm guessing the guns and the crack might be an issue for the police as well.

It is interesting to me that they were able to identify the powder weight but not give a more specific description of the drugs found. There is no way to tell if the drugs were personal quantities. The trafficking charges could have been easily from a result of the amount of powder as opposed to the amount of drugs.

Any so-called 'UGL' that has guns and crack deserves to be busted.

There's no need to manufacture or sell harmful and highly addictive drugs and possess firearms. Sounds to me like they're either new to the steroids scene, or they're not the kind of 'lab' I would trust.

totally true ^^

I think since we haven't heard much from this it's probably a small local lab that got the RCMP on their asses b/c of recs (hopefully :P).

If you read the article, you'll notice it was in conjunction with the border patrol service. That means it was the AAS being imported from China that triggered the operation. Not the rec drugs. AAS is priority now. The Olympics will keep it a priority for a couple of years.

Not sure how I missed that myself. Good observations. Like I said before there is no details on the rec drugs which would lead me to believe the amount was minimal or they would have published amounts.

people get busted for steroids/drugs all the time. I think the RCMP is telling the media more info in regards to their "steroid operations" to make it look like they are "doing there job for the games" I would like to think most of the reputable labs have smarter ways of doing things in general. I dont know though...
