View Full Version : Who's in the same boat ?
Finishing my first cycle at the moment. Anyone noticed a bigger gut/stomach ? I've dropped bodyfat and am leaner but also developped a bigger gut/stomach. It's not like if I was running peptides/gh at high dose for a long time. I eat a good amount of quality food (not too much carbs, mostly meat/chicken/eggs).
I noticed this mostly tuesday doing legs (leg press...thigh on stomach)
This sux, I hope it's not there to stay :(

its probably from the heavy eating you were dong on cycle?
5 meals a day + 2-3 protein skakes, nothing exceptional

yes, mine is bigger too but i think it's just cause i gained fat. getting a roid gut would suck.
mine shrank.....but doing shit heavy squats and deadlifts can cause growth around the waist......

Could be a number of things. Allergies to certain milk products (shakes), not enough water, water retention from the gear, not enough ab training, not enough fiber...you may have to take a look any many things before you determine which is causing the distention.
Highly unlikely it is "roid gut". Roids do not cause the distention that is often referred to as "roid gut"...it is high levels of IGF-1 that can cause the growth of the intestines that causes "roid" or "GH" gut and it is highly unlikely that gear alone will do this. Usually high doses of GH, slin, igf-1 and the 5 or more pounds of meat per day that most pros eat, that causes the huge ab distension you see on some of the pros.

Are you holding your breath too much and pushing your stomach out when you lift? Try to always suck in your gut whenever you do something. Heard it from Ronny Colemen in 1 of his interviews, even though he has a GH gut.

That is a good tip though Keim. I often flex my abs in, not quite a vacuum but in, during exercises.

It is most likely from over eating. Six meals per day is adequate for growth...8 is a bit much and unless your metabolism is rocket fast you are storing alot of fat. Six meals spread out every three hours i splenty....with a post workout shake (no fat). WHat is your macro nutrient breakdown per meal? GH will cause all body tissue to swell even internal organs...this is normal. It can cause a distended abdomen in some people but that is individualistic. If this happens just drop the gh for two weeks and it will dissappear then reintroduce the gh 2 days prior to a show and youll still reap the fullness it provides without the distention. AAS do not cause "roid gut" this is nonsense. The distended abdomen is caused by over eating, excessive insulin, and sensitivity to gh.

Sometimes ive had the big puffy Chuck Liddell esque 6 pack when I eat too much ... this is from constantly having a gut full of food --> excess colon weight.
Go for a run, replace steak and potatoes with fish and salad for a week and take a couple big shits and youll be back to normal.
thanks for all the replies

i have to disagree here. everything ive ever read and been told by expereinced lifters (from a powerlifting and safety point of view) always talks about pushing the gut out as if youre about to take a cannon ball to the belly (squat particularly). sucking your gut in is not very structurally sound as far as support for your back.
again, maybe if bodybuilding is the focus its a little different but i dont think sucking in your gut when you squat is going to give you a flat stomach.

When Coleman said this he meant, always be aware of your gut, not only while training. Suck it in while driving, after eating a large meal, or just sitting on the computer surfing. Colemen use to be a powerlifter himself so he probably has knowledge of what you said about pushing the gut out. He did mention to wear a belt while squatting and deadlifting to prevent to much gut extension.

i bet if you cut your food intake down it would go back to normal.. probably just the intestines filling up with food cuz you are eating a lot.. not something that is perminent

I was experiencing some pretty solid bloat all over.. it felt pretty hard as well.. it's subsided now that my cycle's coming to an end (and lowering sodium a bit).
I dunno.. I'm only on my first cycle, so I don't have much experience, but it seems to me like it's bloat.. especially since it happens when you're on cycle.

Are you taking orals such as Dianabol or Anadrol? Those two will give you the gut if you do not watch your diet.
Also are you over eating at meals? I know it is tough to do because of time restrictions but try having smaller meals spread out more. EX. I used to have my meal and have my protein drink with it. Now I have my meal and the protein drink two hours later.
I also found certain brands of protein drinks really bloat me. Maybe switch brands.

I carry some fat but it's not THAT bad
gut/stomach is already there off cycle (this is 2 month after pct, first cycle...lost some weight after an injury...this was 3 weeks completely off the gym :( )

I see it happening to a lot of guys and it happens to me on everything but Tren. It's probably the result of a swayback or slight indentation of the lower spine. As you train your abdominal muscles, you may tend to harden them while they are slightly distended. If so, you'll have a hard, muscular gut that sticks out instead of sinking in. In spite of some of the nonsense written here about overeating or sticking out your gut when training, Gus is right: You need to conscientiously tighten it as you do any routine. Before beginning ab workouts, kneel or lay back and pull in your gut 10-15 times and hold each pull for a few seconds. That way when you do your crunches or whatever, your gut should be pulled in more & the muscles will tighten in that position. If you have a swayback like me, a pulled-in tight gut takes much of the strain from it, but a distended gut (tight or soft) makes it worse.

I was just kidding bro..but seriously...you do not understand how water pushes that shit out...same thing happens to me when i am on test without an AI..no bullshit, i have pics to prove it. I was looking at some old pics today and was like "what the ****" and they were from my first cycle...no AI...only nolva for the titties..

Bump on that, shakes can cause a lot bloat as well...high sodium..
Check your water and fiber intake also... if things aren't moving, they are in your gut...
thanks for the help gus, always here to help :)
I'm using an AI this cycle ( tbol 50mg/day for few weeks + test E 750mg/week for 16-18weeks + adex... 5* btw)
I'm running letro for at least 2 weeks. A gift from the drol I planned as a kickstart (beginning of gyno)
Sodium is in check. As low as possible. I'll add some All Bran to my shakes

For me I noticed a big difference once I started adding 6 g (2 tablespoons) of psyllium to my morning and evening shake. I crap at least 6 times a day now. There is definitely nothing blocked now. Make sure you drink extra water as the psyllium will absorb a lot on the way through.
off topic : Nolva work better than Letro for gyno :(

That is a lot of protein to be taking in a short period of time. I saw a report posted here recently that suggested that your body can only utilize 20g of protein at once. If your body is not used to consuming this high level of protein you will get serious gas. Which can have seriously affect your stomach and the air quality around you. When I first started taking protein powder I was not pleasant to be around. It has gotten better.
I would cut your dose in half.

If I'm not mistaken that testing was done on sedentary ppl's........but 80gm protein for a 143lb'r in a 1.5 hr time perioid seems a bit much...he could be lactose intolerant as well
well, 5* gears are VERY POTENT. I'll have to lower test to 500mg. I'm fighting gyno since the beginning :(
I'm always hot and sweat a lot. I'm tired lately, sleeping like 10-15hrs each night.
I think 500mg will be enough (maybe add cardio and eat 3000k cals instead). 5* is a lot better than previous lab.

I think you're probably right here Gustavo, but I found that even when I took a recent 8 month break from steroids, that I still had that gut. I thought maybe it's because of water and eating while I'm on and just being fat when I'm off, but it frustrates me because I can't get rid of it.
I grew up a very thin kid and when I look at my side profile, I don't like how my stomach sticks out further than my chest, even though I have fairly well defined abs.
Some more in depth advice on this topic would be great as I'd love to have the waist of a ballerina!

Gotta learn how to work your abdominals properly (all of the internal muscles are important). I mentioned TvA activation before to someone. Working the internal obliques and transverse abdominus by sucking in your belly button can make a difference. Helps a lot with compound lifts too because you gain core stability. If you don't know what I'm talking about try doing a vacuum pose and hold it then do your regular abdominal work.

That's a great response Hurley and you're right because my abs are undertrained.
I get very bad muscle spasms in my abs after only 1 set of situps - or whatever.
So much so, that after say 20 situps, I can't bend over for about 5-10 minutes or my entire abdominal area will spasm. It's been like this for about 5 years.

That may be worth looking into. Do you get spasms in other muscles? What changed to cause that to start happening. Any idea?

Aside from the calf spasms I got during my early teen years, none.
I have pretty good work ethic in the gym, in that I push myself to the limit and only experience typical gym pain. You know, I love the burn of triceps, but I hate the burn of quads, but I still do them...
I can't think of anything that has happened. No injuries surgeries or anything ever related to my stomach. Just one day, it kinda seized up and I pulled straight. It kinda spooked me. Ever since, it's nearly impossible for me to trian abs properly. I try to do 1 set of 20-30 situps everyday at the end of my workout. Better than nothing is my theory.
