I think it would be great if CBB had a shoutbox.

I like how they add a chat feature and more of a community feeling to boards.

Obviously no aas talk.

What do you think? :friday

I've never noticed a shoutbox to slow a site down, except on one poorly designed site.

SSB and MaS seemed to implement it pretty well.

Anyway, was just a suggestion; figured it might be a good way for members to shoot the shit.

well, i've been on a few and the site was slow there, so I would say no. Unless it could be implemented on another satellite site that was just a shoutbox to keep this place as fast as it is..... this might just become a bigger pain in the butt....

I'm on the fence with this. On some servers it will slow the site down, on others it runs fine. Even if it wouldn't put more of a load on the server, there is another reason I am not crazy about implementing it right now.

CBB is still small. To put a shoutbox would take posts away from the site. The first thing a site owner wants/needs is posts to give the site some credibility. Then members are needed of course. The shoutbox will take posts away from the site.

But I will consider it once I am satisifed it can't hurt the site. Maybe a few hundred thousand posts and a few thousand members more and I am willing to implement it as the site would be booming and in no risk of it's growth being slowed by it.

In time, bring it up again and I'll probably implement it.

As much as I am a shoutbox whore ( or used to be ) I like this board with out one . I have seen in the past too many people wether their newbies or vets that post stuff that just shouldnt be in the open like that .

This board is good , it is sfae and I would like to see it stay that way
A few years ago when I was onthe boards all the time , I joined a Canadian site ( cant remember which one at the time ) and my post count was pretty small . I was basicly only in the shout box . sombody asked me a question ( a newbie ) and I gave my answer , then he replied I didnt know shit becouse I was new also

I know post counts dont mean squat for a persons knowledge but to someone thats totally new to the boards they might think different


so my vote is NO to the shout box keep the board the way it is
