OK, so fruck...my car doesn't start at all anymore. My wife kept on trying to start it too many times in a row, and now the engine will not turnover anymore.

All I hear is a high pitch noise, but the engine is not turning over.

I am getting it towed to a garage but I don't know of any good mechanic or garage in the Montreal/Laval area.

Could anyone recommend a good and reputable/trusted mechanic or garage?

If you don't feel like writing it in public, then please PM me the details.

Thanks.

By what you say sounds like a starter as well , if you try just for safe sakes change silinoid and the starter all together, rebuilds are cheap, only 2 bolts, and few little wires and you have out. but disconnect battery if you not mechanicaly incline.

I will see if they can rebuild it. I am having it towed tomorrow. Myself, I have no mechanical skills, yet I can build a motherboard from scratch :)

Thanks for your input all.

I may be too late here but just thought I`d refer you this guy my cousin suggested. The mechaniques name is Dominique 450-458-1325 and his buddy Mike Deroucha who does towing at 514-240-0693. Depending on the job my cousin said Dominique could maybe even fix your car at your place.

Another guy here at autos bellerive 450-681-0355 he said he`s good but charges alot for the parts.

If ever you need someone for home rennovations for anything except plumming or electricity you could call my cousing Michel Cyr at cell:514-299-8518
home:450-477-8476
Fax:450-477-8476

Thanks for the references Ritch. I took down the numbers.

Are you sure your cousin wants his cell and home numbers displayed on a public forum, or are these his business numbers as well? :)

They could be both but those are the numbers written on the business card he gave me today so I`d assume it`s fine. I told him I`d be posting them in a forum and he seemed rather happy about it.

I sent my car to the shop and waiting for estimate tomorrow.

I think you guys are right. I don't think that the starter is dead because I hear it spinning, I think it is the Bendix not engaging the motor wheel.

I wonder if they can just replace the bendix or if they will charge me for a whole new starter!

And this is the new problem, I am pretty sure that the other problem, the underlying one is indeed the crankshaft sensor.

OK guys,

The mechanic just called. As we suspected:

-The starter is bad (needs to be replaced)
-The crankshaft sensor is bad (needs to be replaced)

total cost 450$, all inclusive.

Is that a good price?

Called the stealership, they want 850$ for the same job (same non OEM pieces). So I guess 450 ain't bad after all.
