It is easy to make decisions in hindsight. The cost is also based on being there for 10 years so the cost is $150\year. If we scrap the CBC that will go a long to paying the bill.

I wonder if the cost is good value though? We talk about making Afghanistan a democracy, but the corruption is rampant and there is the concern of more blow back. I wonder if we would have had this problems had the CIA under George HW Bush not provided the mujadeen aka "freedom fighters" in McCain's own words with training and weapons.

If Obama wins, he can draw down the US troops in Iraq, move em over to Afghanistan and they can play at being Russians for a couple of years while our guys come home.
I'd bet that if Dion proposed something like that it would put the liberals over, but I doubt he's got the cahones to try it.

I can't tell you the exact ratio, but I got a lot of friends who went/are going there and afaik, we are getting a really good price per unit ;)
Edit: There's also a big part of that 20 billions that went into buying new equipments which we would have had to buy anyways. The liberals really killed the canadian forces back in the 90's

I support the troops but not this usless war. Who the **** cares about Afghanistan anyhow ? Do they give a rat's ass about us ?These same people drove out the Russians when they were a superpower and they can't get rid of the Taliban on their own ? I wonder why ? They want the Taliban because they provide some resemblance of structure in a country that has been ****ed up for centuries. We shouldn't be spending biilions on anyone but ourselves. Let's improve our rapidly declining heath care system first.
**** Afghanistan and **** all these backward Muslim states that treat dogs better than they do women. We should not be cleaning up the mess that the USA made for the sake of keeping good relations with Uncle Sam. **** them too.

Muslims treat dogs like complete garbage so that puts into perspective how bad women are treated.
Religion is the enemy of free will and liberty.
I think the problem with religions isn't the religion itself, but the leader with an untold political/economical agenda who most likely doesn't even believe in the said religion. How can normally rational adults blindly accept the first religion that was pushed onto them at birth and follow a guy who tells them to kill based on a very weak interpretation of an old book and then think that their "good" god will reward them for killing... It's beyond me
