Well,

www.newegg.ca is finally here, and so far I am NOT impressed.

Prices are NOT very competitive
Items are shipped UPS from across the border, so UPS will hit you with brokerage fees
You pay the 2 taxes provincial and federal

The only positive out of this whole ordeal is that now you have an extra price match option you can use at your favorite Canadian online store :D

Agreed! I paid 40$ brokerage fee on my last order from EliteFts (which was only a 70$ order!!!)

Sad to see they don't have a Canadian warehouse. Pointless to order from them.

Exactly. Just use them as another source to price match at your favorite e-tailer :)

Do you think Future Shop or Best Buy will price match them?

Are you sure about the broker fees? I order a lot from Tiger Direct. Most of the product is either drop shipped or shipped from their US warehouse. I have never paid brokerage fees.

100% sure. I got a confirmation from a sale agent at newegg.ca

TD either absorb the brokerage, do their own brokerage or have an arrangement with UPS.

Update: Apparently Newegg brokerage fees are not as bad as usual as they have made an arrangement with UPS. It will be a low fixed brokerage fee. The agent I am conversing with right now will send me back an email with the details. I will update the thread when I get the info.

Even then, I still don't see any advantage to newegg. NCIX's weekly specials beet the sh*t out of NewEgg's grand opening prices..heck even NCIX's regular pricing beat most of the specials on NewEgg.ca...and the shipping is less expensive, and you only pay federal taxes.

Update 2:

Here is what I received concerning the brokerage fees:

Shipping Methods
All orders require 1-2 business days of processing time prior to shipping.
UPS Standard - Delivery within 5 - 10 business days.
UPS Expedited - Delivery within 4 - 9 business days.
While Newegg.ca and our shipper will make every effort to get your order to you within the allotted time, international customs processing on some orders may occasionally delay shipments.
Newegg.ca does not process orders during the weekend.
No deliveries will be made on weekends or holidays (Canadian or US).

Shipping Charges
Your total cost for purchase of any product will include shipping and handling charges shown on the Newegg.ca invoice. For standard residential shipping, Customer's shipping and handling fees will include an additional $1.00 CAD custom's brokerage fee, which may be subject to Canadian tax.

$1 is acceptable but it adds to the total cost. Whenever I order parts \supplies for work I always ask for the delivered cost. Many retailers try to make their profit off inflated shipping cost.

Yeah, plus their prices are not that competitive. They do have better prices than most for a couple of items, but that's pretty much it. Some of their prices make even TD look good.
