Read an article in today's Toronto Star. Also read something about it in the book "The Fruit Hunters".
Basically it contains a molecule that sits in the sour taste bud receptor in your tongue and blocks sour tastes. Never tried it but you are supposedly able to eat lemons and they taste super sweet. Cool shit.
Someone back in the 70's was going to market it as a food supplement but mysteriously suddenly got rejected by the FDA. He got a call a few years later from a former sugar lobbiest stating that the sugar industry took him for too much of a threat and had him squashed. money talks.
