A bit of a rant here. Whenever I talk with some old timer they have a habit of always wanting to 1 up me. Either they use do be my size ( 5ft 11 220 lbs) or their son is bigger than me. ****ing classic that one. This just happened now, the electrician said his son plays basketball and trains and blah blah blah. He looks at me and says he`s bigger than me. I think we all know bodybuilders and B Ball players physiques just don`t compare. Trust me I can accept the fact that there are people with more size than me... This not a compexity issue. I know where I stand.

Now the guy had done a good job finding the electric problem and I didn`t want to be a prick, but I just can`t take this shit anymore. So I said " well why don`t you bring him here and we`ll compare as in posing..." He then says "Oh well he dosen`t train anymore, he used to, he injured his back..." Like I thought you call someone on their bullshit and they fold. My question is how would you respond in such a situation? I`m tired on encasing this shit from people, I don`t want to be rude, but can`t just keep my mouth shut anymore. Any ideas on ways to respond???

Hold your breath and ignore.

I get a laugh at the oldtimers who "back in the day".....................

Plus by holding my breath, my chest will look bigger... Then I can stick my arms out and walk on my tip toes and look huge!

That's what I do too: ignore the comment, smile at the person, then part ways thinking about how retarded people are when they can't see past their own little comfy made-up bubble. Denial is very amazingly efficient for some people. His son his most likely a 6'4 skinnyfat pick weighing in at an impressive 170lbs. I once thought that awareness was a given in humans, I used to be naive I guess; some people are obviously totally oblivious to their own existence in a social surroundings. To answer you question YES IT BUGS ME!!!

Oh, so you're 5ft 11 @ 220 lbs? ....I am 5ft 11.5 @ 221lbs!! :P

Seriously, do not let anyone stress you with their insecurities. I won't go into a deep psychological analysis of the whole situation, but the gist of it is that when someone feels inferior to another person either physically or mentally, they can do two things. Either work on themselves in order to get better and match or surpass the level of the person in question (this is the hard way), or they will try and insult or humiliate that said person to bring them down to their own perceived level and lower, so they can feel good about themselves and their fabricated superiority (this is the easy way).

Just brush it off and smile and take it as a compliment. You know how big you are, that is all that matters.

Right now I'm at 300 (303 last night, but I had my keys in my pocket lol) at 5'8.5". I still get it.
My response? Think Adam Sandler in Billy Madison when talking to Chris Farley's character...

"No he's not."

You still get people asking you if you lift weighing around 250? Geez Louise... How about the geezers? Do they make you feel their arm and say "Look at this and I don`t even workout..." There was a scene once in Arrested Development that was just like that, had me in tears laughing, saying to myself ****ing story of my life!

If anyone ever does the "so and so I know is better" or "I used to be your size and bigger when I was your age" all you gotta do to shut them up is say this "but my cock is better"

That'll pretty much shut them up right then and there. Seriously... what are they gonna do? Argue the point? lol

Ha! that will work real well at the super table during the holidays. I`ve come to the conclusion that if guys here weighing 250 and 300 lbs live similar situations it`s just how people are. Just makes me want to avoid regular people even more. If it`s not something stupid like "I used to be your size" it`s "You don`t take steroids do you" or "all that protein is dangerous". Let`s not forget that " the size you have is not functional". Funtional enough to beat the crap out of you it is... Meanwhile these people have guts drink their beer and are totally out of shape. Bottom line people are hosers.

Where is the insecurity coming from here dude?? Relax! And seriously relax with that last line, there are a lot of guys you wouldnt ever think of who can whoop a lot of ass. Muscle size does not equal fighting ability.

BTW, you probably scared the electrician forever by telling him to bring his son over to you so you two could pose together!!!

Well I guess all this craziness comes from having worked in supp. shops for many years on end. You have no idea of the bored pepole who come in bust your nuts about all sorts of stuff thinking they know it all. They even flex their biceps in front of you and say touch... ****ing repulsive it is. Really I`ve never met so many dissalusioned people in my life. I even have a few friends like this and just don`t have the heart to tell them they suck.

One has the worst case of Ils ever, "imaginary lat syndrone". Weighs about 170 lean. One days he`s like"I was at this restaurant waiting for my friend to come out of the bathroom and some people came up to me to tell me what awesome abs I have". Wow buddy they could see it right through your shirt eh? I wouldn`t think they sucked if they didn`t stop talking so much about their bodies. Usually to change to topic is how I try to get out of these conversations, but sometimes there`s just no stopping them. "Yeah I walked into class today and I was wearing a sleeveless shirt and you should have seen the girls, the jaws were all on the floor! This is cocky and just bragging, totall opposite of who I am. It`s always the one`s who keep quiet and are truely confident who have the best builds because they know what`s up. In a way I see it as posivitve because I know they want to impress me and want my thumbs up.

That`s where the hoser word comes into play. Hope you guys don`t think I`m nuts... Oh yeah and I agree most of the crazy fighters are not big...

I agree about being careful where the insecurity lies dude. People are people some are assholes and some are stupid others are incredible that life. Deal with it.
Be an ambassador to the sport. Bodybuilding gets so much bad press with the average joe from media and such and you just perpetuate this when you act like you want to bash somebody's head in for making a comment. Ever think maybe the person is asking for more information and they are intimidated by your size?
BTW I kow pleanty of guys who are under 150 who could kick your ass, so be careful with underestimating people.

An embassador to the sport is the key phrase here. People tend to see bodybuilders as bad people to we have to be 10x`s as polite to set an example. Helping ladies with baby carriges going up strairs, holding doors open for people and giving people the right of way when you could clearly run them over are policies I live by. So don`t worry about me perpetuating myself as a bad embassador! I`m just voicing my madness, talking out loud on a board, so to speak... And happened to have a computer right in front of my when it happened.

If we start talking about the whole small guy can beat up a big guy thing, this will never end. Anyway who cares, fights never happen these days. A puch in the face by anybody will hurt, leaving you stunned. If you`re very unlucky, you get clocked while waiting for a cheeseburger... Just like a true bodybuilder shouldn`t show off his physique at all times a true fighter dosent`beat the shit out of people for no reason. How`s that?
