585 BENCH FOR 23 REPS!

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9fPaZLJcwQc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9fPaZLJcwQc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And here are the comments on the video from the author "Thanks for all the support and positive comments on my video. I'm gonna take the advice of my fans and compete in the world's strongest man next year. I contacted them and they said I would get a "special invitation". The guy who runs it hinted that I might be a little too strong and it would be unfair to the other competitors. So I just won't lift any weights for the next year to level the playing field. Thanks again." (which is obviously a joke)

Now, I think there is no way that a man his size or any size could lift 585 that easily for that many reps, even if they are partial.

I am calling for fake plates, even though, I must admit, they do look pretty convincing.

What do you guys think?

Yep :o

So the consensus for people who don't have an MN membership is that the plates are fake.

The bend in the bar gives it a nice touch.
If he'd hammed it up a bit I would have been fooled.

Yeah, they thought of the whole deal. If you read the comments on Youtube they are actually hilarious.

The most recurring comment is that he is doing partial reps, hence he is able to do it so easily, lol

I would be surprised if this guy was actually able to even jiggle the 585 off the place holders.

Here is the comment of the century

"who is that guy
That was unbeleavable !!!!!!!!!!!!!
But my trainer said he had heard of this guy
hes taking anabol"

Using Poliquin's charts (1990) his 1RM could be 975 or more. Obviously depends on muscle composition, training styles, etc.
