Nifty.

Not what I was expecting, but seeing the pics it looks like it was a good call.

IMHO, Dexter deserved that Mr.Olympia title more than anybody in the history of bodybuilding.

I hope that his win marks the departure from heavy mass freaks like Coleman and Cutler to a smaller, more symmetrical type of physique.

It's not like you can't have one without the other, it's just a little more rare and difficult to achieve (Yates, 1993).

Holy shit, 3 years 3 different champs... it looks like bodybuilding might actually get interesting to watch again.

Agreed. Although the "smaller" was there in my original text for a reason ;)

IMHO, Dexter has hit the perfect balance.

Dexter looks killer, true. And in this show won as he should have. BUT, it is a bodyBUILDING show, not prettiest-physique-competition-at-a-smaller-size show. Kinda like how Women's bodybuilding fell out of favour because they got "too big" and voila! Figure comps were born.

I just hope that we don't end up with male figure shows labeled as bodybuilding shows just because it looks more attainable...

True. But then again, after Frank Zane placed 1st 3 years in a row, Arnold who was considered massive for his time, took the win in 1980. So I am not too much worried about the bodybuilding aspect of the competition. Can't wait for next year to see how Dex's victory will change the landscape, if at all.

Out of curiosity AS, who would have you placed in top3?

Dexter looked a million bucks.

Let's hope that NEVER happens.

Frank Zane winning the most important bodybuilding title of the world once let alone 3 years straight with a runners body was a tragedy. Bodybuilding as a sport actually had to recover from that error.
