Hey there,

My wrists and hands feel weak and are taking a beating when I do barbell bench press. Any tips for this?

Personally, I always include dumbbell wrist curls in my arm workouts. Helps build grip strength, wrists, and forearms. This is instead of beating your meat like some would suggest.

No, I don't know what that is.

You are keeping your wrist straight ... right?

It's not really clear to me what part of your wrist you are using to bench press that it would hurt.

Wrist wraps seconded. I had carpal tunnel when I started lifting in 2000. It was very painful and it grew worse as I started lifting heavier then a girl would.

I love my gloves with built in wrist wraps now, but in the early days I had the wraps that had a hole for my thumb and the wrap secured with velcro around my wrist.

Try to lift using your arm and chest muscles not your grip muscles. Gripping to hard or using to much of your wrist can be causing the problem. Use the entire upper body to push the weights. I tried to lift lighter weights with a some what open hand for a while to build the pushing muscles instead of the grippers.

Building wrist strength takes time.

i had the same problems with pain in my wrist but i got myself some gloves with built in wrist wrap and some wrist bands to put over the gloves. I still get alittle pain but nothing to stop me from lifting
