As much as the previews might make this out to be a nail-biting thriller, it is more of a character study, with a bunch of tension thrown in.
I am a huge Samuel L Jackson fan. I think any movie he's cast in is improved by his presence. I even liked Snakes on a Plane. He is even more compelling in Lakeview Terrace. As much as I like him, his character, Able Turner, made you wanna strangle him. He played serious mind games with his neighbors, an interracial couple. The race card comes up quite a bit, mimicking reality and frustrating me even more(in a good way).
All in all, the performances were solid, the story might have lacked a little something, and the finish was a little cliche. But, it did the trick for me.
I give this a 3.5 out of 5. I will mark 4 on the poll, only cuz Jackson was great, as usual.
