well i can finally move around with very little pain. I do get some tighteness where the mesh is. Its time to try and get the 25lbs i have gained since May when the hernia became so bad i couldnt train anymore. I have elected to do this CLEAN!, i will only use a new supplement company called Blue Star Nutraceuticals and food to try and get into the best shape i can in 8-10 weeks.
Some of you may have heard of this company, but most probably havent. Their packaging is awesome, and i was given some samples and i am greatly impressed, hence why i choose them to be my #1 supplement on this venture.
I will post pics tomorrow of my fat self. i will try and post pics every 2 weeks after that and tell people how i feel and what i am eating and of course how i feel about the supplements. I want to re-iterate, i have ZIP to do with this supplement company, and if i feel the products arent doing shit for me, i wont hold back. I paid for the supplements too, they werent given free to me as some kind of payment for dieting down. NO muscletech bs here.
anyways my weight as of tonight is: 245lb. i am 6ft tall.
training for the next 2 weeks will be like this: (still having trouble doing legs due to surgery pain)
giant sets:
monday: chest
incline x 10 reps, followed immediately after putting weight down. 1 minute high intensity stair climber.
do this 10 times. with 30-60seconds rest in bertween sets
tuesday: back
deadlifts x 10 reps (weight ??, gotta see how hernia repair feels) again 1 minute high intensity stair climber, 10 sets
wednesday: OFF
thursday: arms
ez bar standing curls, superset pushdowns, followed by 1 minute high intensity stair climber, again for 10 sets
friday: shoulders
shoulder press, superset with shrugs, followed by 1 minute high intensity stair climber, again for 10 sets.
saturday:sunday OFF
abs and calves will be done wednesday morning and saturday morning.
after the 2 weeks of this if it has stopped working i will change it, if not i may keep it going till i feel i am tired of it.

good luck chubby lumpkins
your lucky you own a gym or your system would never be realistic.
looks weird, and should only take you about 20min to work out, but lets see how it goes.... im sure youll lose weight training like that, just curious as to what type of muscle gains/effects youll acheive
Good luck with your recovery and getting back into shape.:bch

i actually dont give a hoot to any muscle gains at this time. maybe maintain what i have, if there is even any of that left, lol. but yes the workout does take around 20-30minutes to do.
(also i still cant do certain exercises due to surgery, as there is too much stress on the area. hence why i am only doing 10 sets of 1 exercise. Vince Girondia (sp?) use to recommend 10 sets of 1 exercise all the time, as he found it was easier to concentrate on 1 exercise then letting mind wander about what comes next. i have used his 10 sets of 10 system numerous times and its always worked well. Just added a little twist too it.)
really i am training very light and doing the cardio to get the chub down first. no reason to go balls out when u are 30lbs or more over weight.
diet is gonna be around 1.5g protein / lb of bodyweight, carbs will vary each day betwen 150-250, from mostly potatoes, oatmeal, and vegetables. fats will be 3-6-9 oil in my shake (s) and whatever is in my food.
pics will be up tomorrow, and they wont be nice to look at, lol.

jesus, threw up today. after only 6 sets of deadlifts @ 95lbs. was alot harder then expected even at that weight. the cardio really kicks the crap out of ya. hamstrings were tight after 3 sets. i know it will get better strength wise, but the hernia repair feels a little odd during deads and i dont see a reason to push it, as i really dont want to go back to not being able to train again.
time for a shake,some glutamine and bcaa's.

Hell yeah, bro, take it slow and steady and you'll be surprised how quickly you'll get to where you want to be. Push too hard to quickly and you'll have to deal with all kinds of setbacks.

not to be a prick but you made me feel skinny! wh00t.
seriously, some form of Abel's training will get you puking and in shape in no time. did with my flabby ass after a 3yr injury layoff. only problem is you end up dreading workouts
on the dl's your hams tighten up? my problem is my back, and when I start hitting 300lb+ I start the lift with the back. how are you doing your dl's?
physique
11-09-2008, 02:05 PM
no idra how i start the lift to be honest, i squat down, and power out of the bottom. so i guess i use legs mostly. the tightening of the hams, i would bet its because i havent down deads in nearly 7 years. it reminds me when i havent been on ice skates in a while, my hams tighten up. takes 2 reps for them to loosen. almost like a cramp

I remember seeing pics of your transformations in the past, so atleast you know you can do it and what has to be done. As others have said, go with your plan of taking it slow, don't let the ego make you want to push it too hard too fast.
Good luck with it dude.

well, first week is done. i have to say i did cheat a tad on the weekend, as i played in a ball tourney. i only drank 5 beers and ate mostly chicken, potatoes, and fruit all weekend. small bowl of mini melts last night.
cardio was skipped today, because i am so sore from ball i literally cant move my leg up and down. plus my groin is sore. never have i actually had to move that much during ball. lol
will train today, and maybe try to do some light cardio, but i can feel the tightness in my legs just sitting here.
weight is the same as last week. 245
will add another 5 minutes cardio this week. and will continue with my diet the way it is. mon-sat clean as clean can be. sunday, have a couple cheats.
seeing as i am not training for a show, i dont have to go over board.
as for the supplements, so far i really like the engery levels i get off of Blade. 2 caps in morning and 2 caps around 1pm, and its enough to help me stay alert and train.
the glutamine seems to be helping with my soreness from the extra cardio. 5 grams morning, 5 grams before i train and 5 grams after i train. too early to give feedback on the creatine, as i am so weak still from not training hard. give it a few more weeks.
the protein powder, is like any other out there. but i can honestly say the vanilla is great, and this coming from a guy that 99.9% of the time will only drink chocolate. Its there chocolate that doesnt taste all that great too me.
until the next segment
Good for you, bro... also, I think this post is the most clear, well written one youve ever made... congrats...lol

You better pick up the pace pal if your goal is in ten weeks. The small duration of time(ten weeks) leaves no room for error.
Go for it though bro, I trust you can do it.

Wish you all the best, I am currently dealing with what is the final stage of healing with many injuries myself. Wish I could other advice than don`t lift if it hurts. Sounds simple but I ingnored that myself for years on end causing catastrophic results on my body.

Good luck bro, i am in a very similar situation. Had umbilical hernia surgery in November and finally able to get training again, although i let myself go pretty good in the preceding 6 months.
I wish i had the strength to do it naturally and i commend you for it, but i am simply too weak to not use everything i can to help.
I will post a journal when all is done, i am way to vain to include my fat pics.
One question though, how big was your scar, and do you know how big the mesh was they put in. I can no longer squat after the surgery because i can feel multiple tugging points in my abdomen, i am assuming from where the mesh is attatched, do you notice this as well?

I had two umbilical hernia surgeries 3 years ago. The first one I ruined because I'm old and stubborn and decided to leg press a couple weeks after surgery. I know, not that bright. Second one had a mesh in place, small piece which I still feel on certain lifts.
I have a 1 1/2" scar under the belly button - it looks like my belly button is frowning. LOL!
I can squat and do RDLs but off the floor deads feels awkward, it's that pulling sensation KoG described. I felt the pulling sensation on lat pulldowns for a long time, but not now.
I let myself go in that recovery time too, but I'm getting back to my old self now. It takes time, but it does come. All the best!

I just had my umbilical hernia repaired Feb. 3rd but won't be training till April. They didn't use the mess technique but used stainless steel stitching
which will remain as long as I do, lol. It feels pretty good, but don't want to
have it tear again. I can't wait till Spring and to train

Where did you have the surgery done, i only ask because every doctor i talked to and all the research i read said the mesh was by far the most reliable especially for active individuals. Although i don't even remember reading about Stainless Steel stitches so maybe that is the latest greatest. If thats the case i might have to tear it up again for the new fix................lol
p.s. that was a joke, i have no desire to have to push my intestines back inside my abdomen on a daily basis.

Hey bro
I had it done at the Shouldice clinic in Toronto, it's a hospital were all they
do is hernias and the technique is also know as the shouldice technique. It was pretty awesome being there, was no like any other hospital. I went in on the Monday and had surgery on Tuesday and the next day they took out half the staples and the following day the rest and I then went home. I recommend this place to any having hernia repair, its the best. They have professional athletes and people from even the states come up cause its the best. There was a lounge with a pool table area to play cards, some work out bikes and a 52" LCD for all to view. the whole place is carpeted and the meals were great. Was almost like being at home and the people I met were great. Had some sick meds and was awake for the surgery but couldn't feel a thing. The best part is they claim to have a 99% success rate with all surgeries. All is well and I expect to be back in shape (with a little help) for the summer :bch
All is covered by OHIP and my work covered the semi private room which was
$135 a night. I am gonna hit the gym in April and go with a test/primo to put me back to were I outta be
