I've spoken with a lot of people about Randy Couture in the last day. Things are definitely happening.
First, I can say with 100% certainty that there are current negotiations for Randy Couture to return in November to main event, and that the current proposed opponent is Brock Lesnar. They can't get Fedor, too many issues to work out on short notice, and he has a US-only non compete with Affliction.
This will be a new contract, not a return to the old one. It will likely pay him more and give him more benefits, but it will lock him into the UFC for the long term. In exchange for signing it Zuffa would drop all breach of contract charges.
From there, things get hazy. Randy is now training full time as if he is expecting a fight soon, but he still hasn't signed anything as far as I know. As far as the details of the Lesnar fight, I don't know if it's title or non title.

i thought it was just an idea being thrown around by the powers that be....had no idea brock was pushing for it. cant really blame him if he is. and i agree, he is a douche or at least acted like one post fight with heath.

Whatever, just get it on with so Fedor can get his hands on Randy and shut everyone up that Randy can beat him.
Lesnar will also squash Randy.
No one has faith in Randy??? NO one remembers him beating a MUCH bigger, MUCH younger Gabriel Gonzaga, who was a world champion heavyweight BJJer??
Forget about him beating Sylvia, a MUCH bigger, MUCH stronger MUCH bigger douche??
Randy comes up with the best game plans in the buisness. I wont doubt him again. Brock is a great wrestler, but so is Randy. for tha matter, so was Mike Van Arsdale, and randy handled him. Brock is big and powerful, but i dont think its enough against the old man. Dont forget, Randy still holds part of the Heavyweight title, and is still generally ranked 2 or 3 of the best fighters in the world.
And yes, Fedor can beat both of them at the same time.

Randy hasn't fought in a long time and isn't young. That's why I will bet against him now.

there is no denying those points....but IMO Lesnar is a different animal. randy isnt going to KO him, he isnt going to take him down and he wont be able to smother him with dirty boxing. lesnar wont be cautious like sylvia was and keep in mind gonzaga broke randy's arm.
i would love to see randy destroy him but i dont know if it will happen. i hope a few months from now you get to say you told us so.
Assuming it happens, of course.
Also, Lesnar's chin has not been tested yet.
Randy can be him, this guy is like Kimbo Slice.

Brock is very, very big and very, very strong but he obviously isn't well-rounded at this point and I sincerely believe that he is content to try and get by on his natural gifts.
Like Gib said: Randy can game-plan well enough to take on anyone, and at this point in his career he has figured out how to handle bigger, stronger fighters. Brock has holes in his game, and Randy is wise enough to find them and exploit them.
If this fight does happen, Couture is going to teach Lesnar all about humility.
