Alexander Keith’s actor sentenced two years later
In February 2006, 43-year-old actor Robert Smith’s house was raided by Toronto police officers. What they found was chilling — 147 child pornography films, averaging 12 hours in length, in addition to 277 Internet pages displaying incest between parents and children.
According to the Toronto Sun, some of those videos showed “infants and children bound and blindfolded, being subjected to oral, vaginal and anal rape.”
Smith, who played the annoying Scotsman in a series of Alexander Keith’s commercials has two sons — aged 4 and 7.
The actor pled guilty yesterday to charges of possessing and distributing child pornography, and was sentenced to a mere 20 months in jail.
A forensic psychiatrist who presented for the defence claimed Smith was a “clinical pedophile but was ‘sexually hyperactive,’” according to The Sun.
In addition to jail time, Smith was ordered to undergo counseling, provide a DNA sample, be a registered sexual offender for 10 years, forego rights to owning a computer or having Internet access and perform 180 hours of community service.
His ads have long since been pulled from the air.
