Hey guys,
I'm 30 years old from Toronto. Been suffering with low libido and weak erections for a very long time. Doctor did some bloodwork and test results came back as follows:
Prolactin: 20 (normal range <18)
Bioavailable Testosterone: 4.2 (normal range 1.6 - 12.2)
Free Testosterone: 418 (normal range 196 - 636)
I suspect the prolactin can be an issue and bioavailable also looks low to me for a 30 year old. My doc is getting an MRI for my pituitary done and he's referred me to an endo in a couple months.
In the meantime, trying to do as much research as I can and I've also booked an appt. with Dr. Welchner in Aurora
Do you guys think those test scores could be behind the low libido and poor EQ? Is TRT something to consider at my age?
Is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) any different from TRT? Think they would have something useful for the prolactin?
Thanks

Definitely the prolactin wil affect libido and erectile function. I would suggest trying to bring it down and see how you feel at that point. Have you recently been on cycle?

Hey brother.....I have actually never been on cycle....but been struggling with libido and erection quality for some time now. This was the first time I got hormones checked and the doc flagged the prolactin

I would agree it does appear to be an issue. It is known to cause ED and libido issues. Cabergoline should help to correct it but that may be temporary because my concern would be why is it high...ie what is causing it. Caber will reduce it but if you dont address the root cause itself it may climb again after stopping the caber.

Thanks I'm seeing the endocrinologist on Monday. I'm hopeful that he will give me caber at least to try out. I'm also going to see what the bhrt doc says end of January....hopefully I can get something to boost my bioavailable test as well.
Outside that, been reading a lot about Sulbutiamine which I'm hoping will help to restore my dopamine receptors. Wacked it to alot of porn previously and I'm sure that caused some neurotransmitter damage. Also going to take choline, and hfc (happy focused and calm) pills...all with the goal of simultaneously repairing the neurotransmitter damage that im fairly confident was done

I doubt Sulbutiamine and or choline will do much. Just eliminate the porn for awhile and you will be fine as long as prolactin is managed.

Cheers mate.
FYI, I had a visit with the endo a couple days ago. He told me he doesn't want to prescribe cabergoline until an MRI is done given that my prolactin numbers are only slightly elevated.
I have the MRI later this month. If he doesn't give me caber, I will probably just use something like prolactrone to manage the prolactin. Ever had any experience with this stuff or is there anything you would recommend here that I can get OTC?

I have never had prolactin issues myself. Caber would be the best to use.
