Hi Prae. I'm asking this question on behalf of a female friend. She is a first time user of Var. There is absolutely no info out there on this. I'll just paste what she wrote on another board:

"I recently started a cycle with Anavar (10 mg to start then reduced to 5mg after 3 weeks) and had quite dramatic water retention. I have a very clean diet, prepare my own food, do not drink and only dine out occasionally so no excess sodium. I train hard on a 4 day split and do 2 HIIT sessions a week. Consume 4 litres of water/day on average. I stopped the Var after 5 weeks as I was so uncomfortable. 8 weeks later I've decided to try again (starting with 2.5 mg..I'm not kidding lol). After 8 days I'm experiencing the same bloating. Anyone have experience with estrogen inhibitors in regards to water retention? I am 53 years old (a very fit 53) and only menstruate about 4 times a year now. I have never experienced any of the usual menopause symptoms. Thanks for any help."

No its definitely var. Its a reputable lab, l know of lotsa people using it and there's no grumblings out there. I know of one other woman using the same lab with no issue's. Water retention in women using var is common this case is just a bit extreme.

It is quite well known that anavar will cause water retention in women. This does not generally occur in men at all. This issue is not cause by estrogen as anavar does not aromatize it is however still a weak androgen and will cause sodium retention hence leading to water retention. Women are much more sensitive to aas then men and even at low dosages can see these sides. If she is seeing these sides she may want to try primobolan instead.

Thank you Prae.

What about using a mild diuretic?

Yes that would work, she could probably get away with it even twice a week and manage the water. Half a tab Dyazide before bed would work well. She might even try a herbal diuretic such as dandelion root or uva ursi...that would have to be take with food and try every other day.

Dandelion root or uva ursi is what she was thinking as well.

She thanks you :)
