INBF-Canada IVKAR Cup question/information

Hi guys,
As far as natural shows out west it seems that Fame and INBF-IVKAR Cup is all thats available. Being from BC, obviously the IVKAR one is more attractive for me as its held annually in the lower mainland. I took a look at the INBF's rules, drug policies.....etc and had a few questions.

Firstly, it says that its athletes have to be drug free for 4-5 years. It goes on to say that Ephedrine is a banned substance.
Doest this mean that if you have only taken over the counter fat burners with ephedrine in them or and ECA stack in the past few months you have to wait 4 years to compete?????? seems ridiculous to me.
Secondly, it just mentions urine testing ...is there any polygraph...etc other tests?
If im going to do a show like this id obviously like to do it fairly and think that cheating in a natural show is chicken shit, however, if using a fat burner with ephedrine in it is the only thing holding me back a whole 4-5 years i find it a little harsh.
Can anyone with any information, experience or anything to add regarding the INBF, the IVKAR cup and the Fame Natural COmpetitions please help educate me.......thank ya

I competed natty about 7 years ago in B.C. and there was urine testing at all of them and a poly at a couple. To be honest I used ephies(that's it though) the whole time but I don't think it was banned then. One of the shows was a fame show and compared to the other shows(CNBF?) it was pretty brutal. Really unorganized and the MC was hammered. Isn't the Kelowna show tested? I'm pretty sure it is and it's a good show and it's in April/May so it's before summer. I haven't heard of the Ivkar Cup so I can't comment.

Yeah I agree, if you know what you're doing and your diet is in check you shouldn't need ephedrine or even caffeine.

they dont hook u up to a polygraph machine. they just ask you point blank what u have taken. its just on there for bs purposes.

the last 2 shows i attended by this organization, they never polygraphed anyone or did a pee test.

“In-Competition” Testing
An INBA Canada athlete will be subject to “In-Competition” testing when he or she is competing at a IVKAR Cup of Natural Bodybuilding competition. This means that all athletes who are selected for urine analysis at the competition will be tested in accordance with the substances listed in the World Anti-Doping Code Prohibited List of banned substances and methods that are prohibited while “In-Competition” (Includes all substances and methods listed on pages 2- 9 of the WADA 2008 Prohibited List).

Find the clearance time for ephedrine (I'm thinking a few days), make sure your clean and you have in no way violated the policy.

Pretty stupid if you ask me. Obviously the athletes in this organization know they won't be tested then so really anything goes,kinda defeats the purpose of the whole contest. In one way it's good theres no poly cause they used to charge an extra $100 or something but on the other hand when I was hooked up to it and grilled I was shaky as hell and I wouldn't of been able to lie even if I had needed to.To the original poster I would suggest looking into the Kelowna show by the BCABBA,I'm sure they still test cause the website always names the people caught failing.IMO it's pretty gay to compete in a natty show when one isn't natty.

alot of these federations, dont test period. they charge for it, but dont do it. as its not cheap.( it is like $400 to do a single pee test.) and when u have a federation that is very little, how does 1 afford to test???? maybe 1 person but no way they test the winner or top 3 of every class.

hell fame and musclemania use to have you stand in from of the judges and if they thought you looked like a drug user, they would disqualify you right then and there. and no refunds either. can u imagine being clean and a freak that has busted their ass, and have a bunch of judges tell you, you look like you are on the smack and tell you you cant compete? brutal.

hell 1 show on the island here did this, the judges where all steroid users, and they had the nerve to disquailify people. what a joke

i can tell you for sure, the kelowna show is one of the best run shows. last year they tested the winner of each class and i believe 1 random test in each class too.

Dude I don't think you qualify for a natural show given your use of prescription Testosterone (outlined on another board). I'd be really disappointed to compete against someone who was using in this show...why not just wait for an open show?

Ya i was just trying to check it out the other day...it appears that it doesnt happen anymore (especially in Vancouver). Im going to shoot for the 2010 Fame West i guess since its the only local tested show here in Van...its too bad cus i was preparing to do the IVKAR in august of this year...just a longer wait

Agreed. Some of the Fame "Pro's" look pretty questionable. Personally I wouldn't compete in a Fame show if there was another option. They focus too much on fitness modelling anyways. One thing that will always be true is that if there is anything to win (ie. publicity, money, prizes) someone will cheat. The show I did in 2007 no one tested positive (not a lot of people knew about the organization). In 2008, 2 guys tested positive. The funny part was even after one of the guys tested positive for clenbuterol and tren he claimed ignorance...I'd be suprised if they piss test in Fame.

yah but there isnt much else to choose from for tested or natural federations that have shows in BC lower mainland....only other thing i can think of is going down to Washington state to do a show but not even sure id be allowed to register as a Canadian

The Western Canadians are held in Kelowna every year. This year it's April 11th. It is a qualifier for the tested National event. IMO you would be smarter to do that show than FAME.

Way better off competing in a CBBF event - FAME and IVKAR can pound sand.

Kelowna show is done fairly well, always pretty well organized and gives you far greater options in terms of qualifying towards shows that actually matter.

There actually is testing, although not on every athlete, so at least there's some possibility that any competitors using gear will get nailed. Lets you walk away with at least some peace of mind anyways.


Yep the CBBF has the ontairo's and one guy and girl gets tested.

WTF Is this true? The site isnt working anymore, Im choked. I was planning on competing in the novice division this Aug. FAWK. Maybe my buddy can find out for sure, he won the novice div last year. He didnt tell me it wasnt on again this year but maybe he doesn't know. If I hear anything i will post it up.

Oh and congrats on your pro status Athena. I used to train @ Platinum but I moved to poco before you won, so I didnt have the chance to congratulate you.

The Ivkar cup is not going to be held this year. Supposedly the people who put it on just do not have the time.
