Prae,I've always gone narrow on cable rows and saved the wider grip for barbell rows, which although I feel are essential,I haven't always felt the closest feel for.I know you like the barbell rows.

Edit
I used to love rowboat workouts as a young teen.

I have always done narrow as well in the past...I just started adding wider grip and pulling to the sternum for a slight variation on back training. Bent over rows should be done with a narrow grip ie just outside the waist in order to involve the lower lats more.

I've never felt much lower lat involvement with barbell rows.Once felt it hard with a one handed attempt.DB rows don't seem to hit lower either .

Try using a smith machine and pausing at the bottom...Meadows does this one a lot. You need to be in a 70 degree angle roughly to get most lower lats involved. Guys who bent row parallel to the floor are not involving lower lats at all.

So I have been using the smithy for the bent over rows.A few things I like about this, you can remain very steady in your position.I feel I still need to learn how to relax more at the bottom.Where I notice improved feel is at full contraction.I'm going heaviest first set, then two more stripping weight .Going to continue with this for some time.
