...where would it be?
Sometimes I think west coast is more my style, or even Europe.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
reasonable, possible answers here. Maybe in foreseeable future.

Penticton???? Only time its worth while is Peachfest.
I liked Jasper, Banff, Courtney, and a couple places around Van MUCH better than Penticton.
Out of the close to 40 places I have lived in throughout western Canada I would have to say Jasper is the only place I actually miss. But being so small had its draw back as well.
Destruction Bay in the Yukon was amazing as far as beauty goes and would be great if you want somewhere very quite. But is all depends on what kind of life style you want to live as well.
What are you looking for SH? What are you or do you want to do for work?

I'm pretty much setup where I am, but I really want to see more of Canada. Maybe I'd find some place that felt more like me.
What about the commercialism id Jasper? I dont know if I'd like that or not. Although Jasper def. has natural beauty.

Cape Breton Highlands or somewhere on the north-eastern shore of Nova Scotia, that's god's country right there. :)

The gorbies stupidity can get to you for sure. My last 2.5 years there I worked at a job where I did not have to deal with them so that was good. But as a single guy the tourists were a blessing, there for a short time tell them what ever story you wanted and then they were gone.
If you like the out doors and stuff though there is an endless amount of shit to do so you are no where near the tourist BS. And other than the weekends in the winter it is very slow and quite. You have the hill to your self during the week if you ski.
The difference between Jasper/Banff for me is this.
Banff, too close to Calgary and is a small town trying to be a city where no one cares about it cause they are all coming from Calgary anyway and dont live there, and too busy.
Jasper, only 3.5 hours from a major center which is convenient for you but too far for day trippers so people seem to care more about the community, closer nit place for sure. VERY hard to get in with the locals but once you are your golden.
After living in both, Jasper IMO is a much better place to live or visit.
But what are you looking for in a place? To give us some more ideas of what you would like??

On the shores of Georgian Bay. Beautiful water, boating, great fishing and peaceful. What more can you ask for?

Recently, I met up with a couple of old friends. The first one is teaching down in Sarasota, Fla. The other one(a good friend when I was young) is fishing for a living in BC at Poett Nook. This dude never fished, always thought it was a waste of time. Now he loves it, and loves life in BC.
Sometimes it seems as though I am missing out. I'm sure others have felt this way.
I dont know what the hell I want. I'll be here for at least the next ten years with family commitments. Then, who knows. Its just that seeing these guys made me think.
In the meantime I plan to travel on vacations every year or two for a cpl weeks to new locations. Get a feel for what I like.
Thanks for all the responses guys.

Close enough to the city to visit family or friends. Really expensive though and I do think Longview has a better view of the mountains. I was just in Priddis doing some work and loved every minute.
Are you in the South West?

I'm not really sure where.. but it would be far away from Toronto and the opposite in every way to Toronto.
in fact, T.O. reminds me of that show 'deep space 9''.

Downtown Toronto, best Jungle/DnB, Hip-Hop and Graf scene in the country. I dont feel out of place there like I do in this ****ing shit suburb where everyone looks at me cock eyed cus Im not white and dress like a golfer.
In the world, have to be somewhere on the Mediterranean (olive skinned ladies and green seas, food), Hawaii, Miami etc... If i had the money Id live around a year in each spot, maybe more...
I like how you think. That is, other then the Toronto part.

you know, i've lived in toronto for a while now and although I love that we've got a lot of good things (restaurants, bars and sports teams - i'm a sports nut so I love to go to all the games, too bad we're not good at any of them and they charge an arm leg and balls to watch a friggin leaf game) but my main complaint with TO is that the people are not very friendly unlike pretty much everywhere else in canada....

Man there are assholes every where. Calgary has more than share as well. Stuck up bunch of .....
You will find these people all over. TO may have a higher concentration of them, I dont know I have never lived there.

Calgary has progressively gotten worse for dicks over the past decade. I am glad I am not there because it seems there are tons of "tough" guys who weight 135lbs soaking wet who feel the need to drive a truck so large their pencil arms can barely shut the door.
