Its raining here, so I'm checking out the rowing. Thats one of our best events.

So hazy, so much smog and humidity in Beijing. It must be tough for the athletes.

i have watched them. but i am very disappointed in the fact they dont show our athletes.

i would love to have cbc show ONLY our athletes compete. and just use the rest of their on air time as filler.

i will watch hours of olympics and not even hear a peep about how our atheletes do.

Good to know the many federal programs that we pay for to aid our olympians are working. :mock
Ever pay $20 for the scratch and win ticket that supposedly goes directly to our athletes? I'll root for the USA, GO USA!!!! :yeah

the problem is that although many of these athletes are among the most elite in our country, they cant compare against the world in many of these events. the little funding that canada does put into professional sports still isnt enough for many of these athletes to fully dedicate their time to training in their respective sports. there are many national level athletes that end up working and training/competing, while many other countries have exactly that- professional athletes. they wake up, eat, and then train, eat, rest, train again, and then eat, and then go to sleep, rinse and repeat etc.

will canada ever be able to produce athletes that can compare against the world in summerm olympics? sure, why not. but i think cutting back or not having funding for these athletes will definately reduce these chances. kids in these sports wont have their role models to look up to. there wont be as many people in some of these sports that are lesser known.

i'm all for funding athletes who need it.

Great post cedric! I'm all for funding athletes as well but one has to wonder where all those tax dollars are going to? We are taxed very heavily in Canada, we deserve better in the olympics. This is a national disgrace for crying out loud. Maybe our fanaticism of hockey is to blame?

Yesterday was a great day for Canada.

I was so disappointed this week when Mike Brown came fourth in the breaststroke. I knew the guy growing up. Super nice guy. Tank may know him as well.
