Hold the power button in for about 5 seconds to shut it down.

If not pull the power / battery and put it back in.

XP or Vista?

Alot of hardware doesn't like hibernation.. Try using standby mode, there is better reliability.

Run Windows Update and make sure you've got the latest updates and then apply this patch:

Just click on Tools at the top of your browser Window assuming you're using IE, should be there.

Basically it will scan your computer and update you with the latest patches etc. Should help. If it doesn't, then I can help you make it use Standby instead of Hibernate.

maybe some crabs from your lap crawled in there and short circuited it?

Now the opposite problem. I have a crazy computer than hibernates then 3-4 hours later wakes up by itself and stays on indefinately. GRRRRRR.

When you try to cum on a girl's face, it's supposed to be a real girl. Not your laptop screen that has a video playing. That just leads to problems like this! Throw it out and buy a new one and use a damn kleenex or something next time. God.

Trojans can have this affect. Definitely go through your power setting in both the bios and Windows, as was suggested.

No bootable device is your hard drive, so here's the potential problems:

- dying hd
- dying mobo
- loose hd connector

Make sure you have a backup of all you important info. This is not a good sign. The above diagnosis is correct.

Dell.....that made the diagnosis easy. Get a trouble ticket started before the year warranty is up.

Could be an Anti CMOS virus affecting the master boot record or CMOS causing issues with hard drive detection...
