View Full Version : Nevada Athletic Commission Ruling On TRT
Prae, you may have heard that Belfort was replaced with Lyota Machida to face Weidman in a title bout coming up in a few months.A doctors exemption for TRT will no longer be accepted by the state athletic commission and Belfort cannot get a license to fight .Many fighters are applauding this, saying TRT therapy is being abused or its reason is previous steroid abuse. My question is,provided that a fighter did need a little boost and stayed within normal ranges, can exogenous test still be detected?I heard there was a new test that could in fact differentiate.
Edit Apparently this is a carbon isotope test.

Wow, this could be the end of the UFC in Nevada. Every card will have to be arranged around who is and who isn't on TRT.
Guys on TRT are pretty much going to be gone.Bisping lost twice to guys on TRT and he's angry.Everybody know guys go higher in training. Some are saying that cheating can still take place.

So is Dana White gonna take a chance and get embarrassed with other fighters being caught or just take his show somewhere else?

I believe the Fertitta brothers live in Vegas,I don't think they are leaving.I guess GSP was right.....Georges is claiming he knows of many but won't say.I am wondering if they can spot suspension with these new tests,I know they can detect with the passport system the British cyclists use,but that involves more testing over months.Mark Hunt drew with Big Nog who was on and I noticed Hendricks was stronger than GSP and didn't want the extra testing that Georges wanted.

Drugs have been a huge part of MMA for many years. Anyone who is just realizing this needs to get their head out of the sand. We are talking professional highly paid athletes here...hello!
HGH and testosterone have been used for years by many mma athletes...just as in the Olympics or NFL. Unless you have random out of competition testing for all athletes in all countries you will never stop this usage and it will continue except guys will just normalize prior to a fight. The carry over of size and strength however will still be there just not quite as pronounced as it would be if they remained on.
The tests do not detect exogenous testosterone...as it appears the same as endogenous...they look at test, epitest levels and ratios.

So all that is happening is nothing.People will do TRT if they need it under the table, and train with prop and suspension.
