View Full Version : Poliquin's ABDOMAX
You might have seen people using med balls doing their ab work,he includes a trampoline to bounce the ball off for the rather pricey 995.00 for this unit.He talks about the importance of including the psaos in the workout, they are meant to be worked together.

You just KNOW that some poor kid is going to break their nose on one of these by going to fast...

Unnecessary for decent abdominal development...save your money.
P
I rather liked his explanation of foot placement and the involvement of the hip flexor.

Weird looking physique and stupid piece of equipment.
Poliquin is 53 and his physique doesn't look so weird with his shirt off.Any insights as to why it is stupid? You can chose your own ball. :)

Age would matter a lot more if he was relying on his own body's production of hormones which is clearly not the case. He may be a great trainer and smart guy but to me his body looks misproportioned. Super gimmicky piece of equipment. They welded a trampoline to a decline bench. Also a huge liability concern. I can maybe see applications for a University but I don't think it solves a problem. Just more crap to feed the newer is better themed fitness industry.

Not sure about the liability, usually it's another person that catch and throw the ball, ie a personal trainer, so if the person receive the ball on the nose he can blame the trainer more easily then if he knock himself out of a bad throw/catch on the trampoline.
I also think it's overpriced & totally unnecessary equipment. I would not even use it if it was free.
I'm surprised CP put his name on such a thing...

Weird looking physique and stupid piece of equipment. He does have a very odd physique, very narrow shoulders and out of proportion length of arms.

I have seen people doing this exercise but it's usually their partner or trainer throwing the ball to them. I think it would be just as effective if you just did your sit-ups, holding the medicine ball in front of you, at arms length.
^^^^
With the trampoline you don't need anybody else.I think it might be safer to toss the ball at the top if you come up explosively.

I think, as you come up, you should smash your face on the trampoline for the extra resistance going back down.

Haha, slow day at the office,I'm freezing my ass off in Calgary. If you come up explosively and hold on you have to start braking at some point.Would be detrimental for athletic purposes but likely means nothing for bodybuilding as half the guys do no ab work anyway.Good article in the current edition of UFC mag featuring that Winnipeg guy with the Polish name,Solsk@&% or something demonstrating his ab routine.
Ok Scott,Krzysztof Soszynski has his thighs at a steeper angle, and he uses a plate,as he reaches for the fully contracted position he extends his arm to increase the resistance.Same idea but it looks more manly.:)
He also uses an ab wheel.:) A small one from the standing position is pretty tough.

You're nuts!:)That would make one goofy vid.You might catch the plate or it might hit you in the head!
