I have been training properly for a month and a half right now. I do lot of crossfit/HIIT training. On wednesdays I do pull ups and dips variation training. I have improved my diet drastically and here is the break down:

Morning (6AM): Oats with almonds and mango slices plus protein shake with banana and milk
730: workout
9AM: vegetable snacks throughout the day. I will be busy at work so I wont pay attention to what I eat so i replaced my chips with vegetables
12PM: Meat (chicken, fish or beef)
1pm: Vegetable snacks
3pm: Protein shake 2 scoops
6pm: Meat

I use tuedays and thursdays to include sweet potatoes into my diet. I maybe skip like 1 workout a week.

My weakness are cheese and pistacheos. I eat them once a week maybe. I sleep 6 hours or less a day due to work, business and fitness. I dont drink alcohol or had any deep fried food till yesterday. It was just 2 shrimp tempura and 2 spring rolls.

Last week I was 200lbs and this week I am 203.8lbs. Its frustrating in a way that I am not losing anything now.

I'm 6'2 and wish to be lean by this october as I want to compete in a bodybuilding competition this year.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I am not a guru at this like some of the other guys / gals on here but I think they will tell you that your diet has way to many carbs for getting lean (competition) Check out dave palumbo diet for 200lb man.

Weight fluctuates quite a bit. Do you weigh yourself every day? If not, try it for a week or 2 and continue what you're doing...That 200 might have been a light day with the 203.8 a heavy day. Also, if you've only been training for a month or so, its quite possible your body is simply gaining muscle / glycogen quickly. This would obviously plateau soon. While your diet looks fairly clean, I've seen or heard people claiming similar diets and they didn't know they were actually eating upwards of 4500-5000 calories per day. Most people can't lose with a diet that high in calories without massive calorie expenditure.

I would suggest finding out exactly what you are eating instead of guessing. In other words how much protein, fat, carbs per meal...once you do this I would look top eat 5-6 balanced meals per day and use that as a baseline then make adjustments from there.

Dude it is not fun but works:
Log everything (food, beverages, work out, sleep) weigh yourself every morning (lbs and %bf)
That will give you the blue print to work, ask and answer questions

3-4lb fluctuation is completely normal.. When I am in the off season, my weight changes over 7 lb... Even in contest I have 2-3lb variation..

Also your diet is not good for body composition at all to be honest.

I like all of your advices. I am going to log everything I eat from now on for a month and present it to you. I am thinking of hiring a dietition for more help, any advice on it?

My heart rate monitor tells me that I am burning around 700cals/workout. This week I havent missed any but my weight went upto 206. Not fun at all!

About the abs, I hear guys like Greg Plitt suggesting to workout on it everyday and the trainer at my work place tells me that compounded exercises like kettle bell swing is enough and no need to do isolated ab ex-. Could you suggest me what needs to be done here?

I think I go over board with nuts. Last night when I was sitting through meeting, I snacked on bag full of cashews. Maybe it could be adding calories! But I dont know why it is going up significantly.

@JordanWfitness, what would you suggest as a good diet?

Bags of cashews = huge amount of calories, it's full of fat.

And forget about hiring a dietitian, they are like 20 years behind in the woods, still recommending plenty of things that has been proven bad for health. If you wanna do the right thing hire a guy like Prae (check in his signature), he's one of most knowledgeable person I know and will set you straight to your goal (diet and training). Do it once, do it right.

Eric,

You mean Praetorian? plus I agree with you on this where my friend gained bad weight by the suggestion of a dietitian. Do you think October is enough time for me to be ready for the competition?

Yes, Praetorian! You have plenty enough time to get ready.
