Just read an article on insulin and it stated 30 to 150g of fast acting carbs and whey protein after WO in order to replenish/repair muscles. My question is do you need the carbs as whey will increase insulin as well or do the carbs simply make it all happen faster?

Yes if you take insulin without the carbs you will go hypo...dont believe the BS that whey will do the same it wont!.

I believe he was asking are the carbs necessary to spike insulin levels to drive the aminos to your muscle or does they whey insulin spike do it on its own?

I do not think he was referring to adding exogenous insulin post work out.

Thanks #8, that is the question exactly, my ignorance on the subject led to a half assed question on my part. Thanks Prae you answered my second question as to how pers can take insulin without going into a coma.

Ah I assumed you meant exogenous insulin. But you are correct the carbs spike endogenous insulin which helps drive both protein and glycogen into the muscle...not to mention creatine if you are taking it. Whey itself will not have such a profound effect.
