I'll try and keep it short and sweet. I'm moving to Toronto very shortly, and I'm looking for some of the better lifting gyms in the area (good plates, HS machine selection, full racks, high end dumbbell weight etc.).

I'm going to be living in the Beaches for the foreseeable future, with very limited access to a car, so anything that's easy to get to through public transpo would be preferred.

Thanks in advance!

Not that its close to you but stay away from Liberty Village goodlife. Worst gym in the city.

Saw a dude in there not long ago training in sunglasses, a toque, a wife beater and cut off denim shorts. Ya.

Good to know. I'll be scratching that off the list.

I have heard though that the female clientele there is top notch :)

Can't help OP. I'm a GoodLife guy due to flexibility of locations and the deal I can get there. :)

Goodlife on 137 Yonge street has the best equipment in a commercial gym, but it is always packed and Goodlife is... Goodlife.

If you can go there at 2 pm or really late (they are open 24h).

Call in advance and talk to Natalia she is competent, supper hot and a sweetheart.

The Coxwell Goodlife is closer to your home.

Fortis fitness (Queen and Pape) has great equipment and clientele, a bunch of lifting platforms, squats hacks etc and a no douches allowed policy

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

Edit: It would seem, at least according to their website, that Fortis has moved to Carlaw Ave. which is quite close for me. Looks like a great gym too, definitely going to check it out.
