I started to find out about minimal intensity cardio, substantial intensity interval training and I started out to use a variety of cardio machines available at the gym.

Get a heart monitor.A stationary cycle with a fixed resistance and tachometer, and a timer.
Squat
Get on the bike and spin at 90.
Record the time to recover to 110- 120 or so bpm.
Repeat.
There are many you could do.

Ditto walk...there are only two types of cardio you should ever perform...HIIT which is completely misunderstood by 90% of people who think they do it and low intensity cardio. HIIT is sprinting...and not 100m or 200m or 30 secs....thats not HIIT. Sprinting should be short ie 20m, or hill sprints which are safer. Low intensity is fast walking with your heart rate no higher than 130bpm. Your energy source will determine which one you do...if you are in ketosis ie burning ketones for fuel then low intensity is best....if you are using glucose via glycogen for fuel then HIIT is best.
