I got a letter from 407 today. I almost tossed it thinking it was some promo because I live nowhere near Toronto. I opened it and to my surprise there is a bill for almost $100. I looked at the licensed number it was picking up and it did not look familiar. I called them and they told me it was a trailer plate. Well, the last trailer I had was for my boat which my ex ended up with. I thought I had taken the plate off. Regardless, I have not seen the plate for over 3 years. I tell them I have not been to Toronto in ages so it could not have been me running up the charges. Their response in other words was "Tough shit, pay up". So, I call the cops and tell them my story and they give me an incident number which is supposed to appease 407 from today on. The cop said that 407 does not care about circumstance they just want their cash. I think he was about to say some nasty things about them but held back. He also said I can go to MTO and swear an affidavit which may clear up past charges.
So be warned. Keep track of your old license plates and when you are done with them take them to MTO for disposal. Lesson learned.

$3 Billion dollars payed for by Ontario tax payers and the govt goes and sells the 407 to a Quebec corp for $1.5 billion. Nice huh. God help you if you owe them some money, you can't get your license renewed until you pay the bill off. Govt working for a private corp, very nice.

Ok, simple question. What is the 407?

It's about a 100km toll highway that runs across Ontario. It's supposed to help you avoid the "gridlock" of rush hour traffic......

Not true. They will send you a bill. They will even send collections agent if you do not pay. I have been reading this on some boards where Americans did not even know it was a toll road because they are used to having booths.

407 is a ripoff . I dont' know why they charge so much, or even charge, geting to point where your not saving time anymore due to traffic. If i didnt' drive for company some times i wouldnt ever use.

in that case I am a lucky and naughty boy . best bet then I guess is to use a blow up doll and take the car pool lane if you're headed that way.

if you drive 140+km/h past the cameras, its too fast for it to get you on camera...
now someone test it out and report back here :D

140 really isn't all that fast. that's normal gta speeds with no traffic. you could always try that old hair spray trick from the old red light and photo radar cameras . again. .. someone try it out and report back to us .

The Mythbusters tried all sorts of methods to beat speed cameras and they all failed. BTW, I watched Top Gear 2 weeks ago and in japan, the police need to capture your plate and your face while behind the wheel. So the host of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, puts a UK politicians facemask on everytime he nears a camera. GENIUS! :yeah

If I recall correctly the same was true here. They took a photo of not just the plate but the driver too.

Yeh driving down the highway, but good luck staying on the road on a curving on/off ramp going 140... unless you got those F1 tires on your ride.
