Hey,

Recently I have been thinking of trying to get into the world of fitness modelling, I am still very young however (only 18), so I have alot of time, but I am pretty sure I am headed in the right direction.

Currently I am 5'10-11, and my weight flucuates anywhere between 175-185lb, depending on my water intake and food intake that week, I am a pretty low bodyfat, no higher than 10%. So in my mind I have a good base to continue forward, most fitness models (not body builders) seem to range between 5'10-6'2, so I am on the shorter side but still can grow, all of my family is 6'+, so I am very confident I will hit 6'. Also fitness models are anywhere between 180-215, and I am sure alot are below or above this marker. Low bodyfats for shoots, hard to say for each individual person, at 10% bodyfat, I have a pretty decent outline of abs, but I have many friends at the 10% that have no abs or vascularity, its person to person, one person can be at 10% and look like they are at 6% another at 10% and look like they are at 14%.

So my question is, how? How do you break into this industry, I wouldnt think about it untill I was about 185 constant at 8% bf. Is there a fitness model scouting competion or, do you have to go to califorinia or miami? FAME in toronto has fitness models right? What do you think the youngest age for a fitness model would be 20?

Any help from experience or just knowledge would be great!

There is FAME and now Paul Dillet's WBFF. Age would be irrelevant I guess. But you need to get many pictures of you taken (preferably by a pro) and get them out there. Maybe even a web site would help you.

I agree with MP on that, get into these shows. I know a few that were just in the Prairie Nat for Fame in Calgary here and it's a good place to find out who's who and what's what and exactly what kind of a song a dance to do. One warning though is that they do a lot of testing so no performance enhancing drugs. A guy just got removed/banned from these comps because they found EQ in his system of all things.

Really the Paul Dillet's WBFF, tests? I thought they were untested, I got a buddy going to the bodybuilding catagory and he is on Test/Tren/Mast/Var right now on his cut..

I can only speak to those in the Fame comps, WBFF may not be as strict??

Well doesnt really matter anyways, doesnt FAME operate under the "If you look like your on, we test you" principle you have a physical screening then they urine sample?

If your looking to get seen by a company in California then why not send in your story to all the bodybuilding magazines with photos. Do em all, Men's Health etc. See if they will do a short feature on you as a new athlete. Write letters to magazines about where you were and where you are now with photos...credit their magazines.

And do NOT forget to credit Canadianbodybuilding.com

FAME is jokes, WBFF is jokes too. Judging by the guys that compete, testing must be non-existent. Actually for the last natural bodybuilding show I did the fitness models looked more juiced up than the bodybuilders.

If I were you I would put on some weight then get some professional shots taken.

my mistake I think i posted by response in a wrong thread. Does anyone know how to delete?

I just wanted to say that FAME catches people with their urine testing through the WNSO. I saw it all over the news after one show and I know of 2 people who were banned for life just recently. One of them refused to take the test and was screaming about it but they kept feeding water and eventually there was no choice. The dancing had to stop.

This is the first I've heard of FAME doing real drug tests. How many people do they test? Considering the number of shows and competitors there would be a lot of people with positive test results if there was a good testing system in place. Post a link to where it says the people tested positive.

The small federation I compete with has already had several people test positive. That was from only a few shows with semi-random testing of a limited number of people. The organization is an offshoot of FAME because the person wasn't happy with the way FAME does things.
