Countrychic and i have been wanting to get into supplying our own foods for awhile now. We both are from the farm.

We bought 8 acres of land and home this wek to commence our plans. It is pasture and set up with 2 spring fed ponds, tonnes of fresh high quality water. Horse barn, Hauge shop with an oil change pit and about 3000 sq feet open on main area of shop 15 foot ceiling, 10 and 12" main structure beams, skooookum, pristine can eat off the floors, then up a floor is another 3000 sq ft of open with 3/4 inch plywood floors, sounds like man cave, stripper pole area, then up on top floor another 1200 sq feet, same as floor 2, grow op maybe...lolol..jk
Chicken coops.
So we are going to get a couple of steers, which will be grass fed organic only, a couple of horses, not for food. We miss riding.
Chickens, for free range organic eggs.
I catch these (pics included) for fresh fish, wild salmon, and Halibut, tonnes of cod and crabs and prawns.
Project self sustainment begins end of this month.

first pic, 80 lb halibut, yum, yum
Halibut is about 20 dollars/lb in market out here on the coast, more expensive inland, a definite delicacy as far as the fish family go...
Costs me about 10 gallons of gas, a couple doobies, and a few brewskis, and lots of laughs with good friends.

I havent slaughtered a beef in several years now. I fear Countrychic and i may become attached to the beef and end up with a large couple of old steers dwelling on our place....lolol

Wow this is amazing! Just add solar panel + geothermic heating and you can be free from this bill also!

I hear yeah on the beef, I'm not sure I would be able also. Tell me you'll have a Jersey!!

Scottlove, looking large and lean in your avi. good job. The steers are kind of like a t-rex when they grow old, ill watch out...lol

I don't think I'd have the heart to kill a cow unless I was starving but what you two are doing is great. Best of luck to both of you. I'm envious :)

Cool idea. My parents have a 25 acre hobby ranch in south langley. They call theirs the 100 foot diet with the veggies and such. For meat they do 6-7 lambs, 2 calfs, 1 goat and about 10 layers from the auction each spring. Supplies enough food for them and gets their prop tax down from 10k to $800 ;) enjoy

Yes, if you can generate a small amount of revenue from your proerty, there is a whack of incentives out there if one looks around. Thanks Folks, really looking forward to it.
