So I am sure many of you have been doing this forever but for some reason it just dawned on me. Why exactly would I go and buy a protein powder when I can save money and use aminos and the liquid egg whites at Costco? For the same amount of protein found in the Kaizen isolate I would need (roughly) 5.79 of the egg white containers, or $26-27.00 instead of 48.99 (plus tax; the egg whites have no tax). I would keep my isolate for post workout but from now on I will save some coin and do the egg whites. Man I have spent a ton of money for no reason.

There is more to eating than just fitting in your macros! I like a protein shake. It tastes good. Liquid egg white, not so much. Then, there is getting some whey concentrate rather than isolate. 5 pounds can easily be had for under 30 bucks. I find protein powder one of the cheapest sources of protein outside of canned tuna on sale.
Variety is where its at. No way could I be one of those guys who have 6 meals a day - each being fish, asparagus and 7 walnuts

Steve_D, I recall you posting about LD protein powder. Is that still your main source of protein?

Must not have been me. Not sure what LD protein is actually. My main sources of protein right now are beef, chicken, fish, eggs and any brand protein (concentrate / isolate). I would say I get most of my protein spread evenly across all those sources. When I diet it tends to shift towards protein powder when I am getting really lean and need to satisfy a craving. When not as lean, I tend to have less shakes and more real food.

I haven't got a Costco membership but at Walmart I pay 2.37 for 500 ml Providing 60 grams of protein. My Canadian Protein iso has 2000 grams of protein in a 5 lbs bag. If I divide 2000 by 60 I get 33 (so ok need 33-500 ml containers to equal the same amount of protein. 33x 2.37 equals 78.21 in egg whites. Yet my iso is 58...and tastes better lol.
Granted your egg whites may be cheaper and the protein might be cheaper although I doubt it because I think you're getting 2 kg not 5 lbs of Kaizen.
