TORONTO — Two Toronto police officers and three correctional officers were among almost two dozen people arrested Thursday after 63 search warrants were executed in a crackdown on marijuana grow-ops.

Toronto police Chief Bill Blair said he was very disappointed to learn that two of his officers were allegedly involved in a drug trafficking operation that involved marijuana, ecstasy and steroids and money laundering.

It's alleged the "elaborate" operation had been ongoing for at least two years. The police investigation lasted several months before the raids were launched, netting 23 suspects.

Police seized three houses, five vehicles, $60,000 and almost eight kilograms of marijuana.

The officers' alleged involvement is more than just a breach of their oath of duty, it's also a betrayal of their colleagues who strive to maintain the public's trust, said Blair.

"All of us need to maintain the trust of the people we serve," Blair said.

"The conduct alleged by these two individual officers, and quite frankly also by those corrections officers that are accused in today's investigation, (means) that trust is challenged and we are very disappointed," he said.

The two officers - Kevin Bourne with nine years of police service and Patrick Lee with eight years on the force - are in custody. If granted bail, they will be suspended with pay.

The accused were scheduled to appear in a Newmarket court Friday.

Police said the investigation is continuing.

I've read about this. It was primarily a grow-op that branched into different forms of drugs. There were also 3 correctional officers involved and they are currently investigating the prison systems.

dosent suprise me, I work out in a military gym and 70% of the military guys are on juice.

I think 100% of military guys should be juiced. Seems to me if they are in the field they should be given every advantage possible.

Ya....I don't think the main thing was steroids...or they were using them. It was more of the elicit drugs they were pushing. Why would you wont to blow your career away. I think T.O cops are paid the highest in Canada last I heard.

Was on my bike last night and saw this guy getting ****ED UP so bad I was almost sick. He was unconcious and 2 guys were booting him to the face / head. I pulled over to help the guy and they started walking away... Pig shows up, does he chase the 2 guys? No. What does he do? Tells the guy on the ground who's moaning to "shut the **** up!"

Guess he didn't want to do the paperwork. If I wasn't late on my sticker I would have stayed and filed a report, it was just sickening. Any respect I had left for police is definately gone now. I wouldn't be suprised if that kid ended up dieing in the hospital..... it was brutal.

Near Burlington.. it was a nice area too. I still can't get it out of my head. The one guy was holding the unconcious guys head still so the other guy could get his kicks into his head better.

Not from there myself so don't know for sure, was just cruisin through town. Was near the strip where all the restaurants with patios are - near the lake.

I don't have any issues with people juicing from any profession.
as long as they are doing it educatedly..........not stupidly.

Really...... who cares if a cop or correctional officers juices?..... who cares if a nurse or a doctor juices......if they are conducting them selves in a professional mannor.

These guys in the article are also involved with rec drugs............ which is a no no.
I'm sure that there are many good guys who juice that aren't involved in crap like that.

Ya...I want a juiced cop feeling even higher on himself then he already is and is more confident yelling me at me because he can't keep his anger under control. :)
