OUCH!!!! I hurt my shoulder a few weeks back because I stuck on my 4th rep and I looked back and my spotter was just looking around the room, I yelled at him and he goes "ohhh...... PUSH!!!!" I was like "Pull you dumb ****" I wanted to punch him in the face after that.

The guy in the video was P'lifting so if the spotter even got close to touching the bar the lift would've been disqualified. Looks like the lifter had something go 'pop' and quickly dropped it..might've torn a muscle or had his shoulder go? I kinda doubt the spotter would've been much help anyways, except to do what he did and quickly get the bar off. Powerlifting isn't exactly a sport of longevity, that's why I'm not into it. It's cool to go to the meets though, some big guys lifting some pretty big weight.

Weird. Its got nothing to do with spotters. I tell a spotter to not even touch the bar unless the weight is standing still for a moment, and even then to wait, and only assist just enough to get it moving again. Looks almost like the weight just slipped or he ditched it.

I don't see how any spotter could have grabbed that weight any quicker. They did there best. The guy shouldn't have dropped the weight like that, you think he'd know how to hold a barbell properly. I don't even know how it would slip like that unless he used KY jelly instead of chalk lol..........eewwww

you can compete well into your 60's if you want to, there's people who do and there's age classes to support it, you don't see that in bodybuilding.

but i think you're talking about injuries wise? I see that a lot with people who are chasing big raw bench numbers a lot of 'careers' shortened that way. Shirted/geared lifters not as much.

I advised a system for people that spot me. If the person that spots me is a connaissance, then they probably know the system, if I ask a spot of a stranger I quickly give him the rundown.

The system is simple really. The spotter will be hearing 2 words, and *only* 2 words from me during my lift. If they hear nothing, they do NOTHING. As simple as that.

"help": means that I need little help with the lift. Just a couple of pounds worth of lift.
"spot": means that I want the spotter to take the whole weight off of me.

This system allows ME to control how I am being spotted and not fall victim for the spotter's whims or habits. At no other moment during the lift I say anything else because this will confuse the spotter that is expecting to ONLY hear either of these 2 words, or no words at all.

So far, the system have been working great and is quick and easy to explain if you are asking a spot from someone for the first time.
