Well after three weeks of bears, bugs and bullshit i am home. I took a job to help out a friend whose new husband owns a fishing/hunting lodge. I worked at a lodge for 5 years from 2001-2005 but it was not run by a dipshit like this one was. I got a nice break though from training (although my injuries did not heal as planned), got to catch a shitload of Walleyes and spend some amazing time with my finance.
Being back in the bush did bring up my deep feeling of love for that type of life. If i had the cash, i would purchase one of the many lodges now up for sale. Seeing how this one lodge was run i can understand why so many are failing. In the current US economy you have to offer people something more than just a cabin, boat and good fishing. You need to give them that special experience through service. The lodge i worked at in the past had a 70% return rate, this guy had zero. Although the accommodations, food and fishing are all good, this guy cannot get anyone to return. Just from my three weeks working there i got 3 groups to book next year. Service is everything...
Anyways, it is good to be home and back here at my online home. I hope everyone is well and i will be getting caught up in some of discussion/threads ASAP.
Good to be home!
