Hey all,

My GF started taking birth control pills to control her period. A very bad side effect to them is decreased sex drive. We read up on it and as it turns out the pills seem to increase the amount of sex-hormone binding globulin (SHBG) in the body. SHBG is a protein that binds to testosterone, preventing a woman's body from using it effectively. High levels of SHBG have been directly linked to decreased libido and sexual desire. The birth control pill inhibits the production of androgens, including testosterone, in a woman's ovaries.

Has anyone else run into this problem and do you have any suggestions to increase libido in the female body?

is she on this specific pill for a reason....what i mean is, does she Have to be on this certain med.......if not, then tell her to go back to the doc and get one of the low dose versions....they have less sides......def do not get her on the birth control patch.......the transdermal ones turn women into nut jobs( reason is more med gets into blood stream giving them a super dose of the shit)......no offense to any women on the board.....

Ask her doc to try other brands of birth control pill's...there's a ton and for sure she will find one that better suit her

If she's hardcore a bit...Anavar is a great SHBG reducers and a popular choice for chicks

Thanks guys. She is "fixed" so she can't get pregnant but she went on birth control to stop her menstrual cycle. The reason for this is we are getting married on August 23rd and she doesn't want to risk being on her period on the wedding night.

I have read about women using Var but only at like 0.5mg and the Var I have is 20mg per capsule imported from Sweden. It works wonders for me but I don't know what it would do to her at that dosage.

Haha with a comment like that Tex, I think the test is kickin in.

Does it really STOP the cycle? I thought it just made it more predictable and less lengthly. :/

Of course, another way to look at it is that the decreased sex drive is not a side-effect but a function of the drug. After all, the best birth control is no sex at all! At least, that's what they told me in Sunday School...

Give her 100mg of Test-E a week and all will be fine (except you might be tired all the time...). :D

She didn't get her period.. but she grew a cack!! ;)

I would have her see her doc about switching medications. Sometimes just changing the brand of pill is all that's necessary. ( Certain types contain lower progestin and higher estrogen )

Believe me the lower sex drive is not a benefit. My gear cycle had me banging her 4 times a day up until she got on this birth control. lol

Thanks for the replies guys.
