ran into a guy who competes in the gym and his theory on carbs when dieting was this, what u think about this?

he says if your day says to have 300g carbs have 100g in morning and 200 post workout and thats it. only 2 times per day to have the least amount of insulin spikes and to keep the carbs in the muscles instead of floating around in the blood stream?

now i training in the evening so he says just have the 100 in morning and then nothing all day till post workout? same with if i am having 400 carbs said have 100 in morning and 300 post workout. (he did say u have like 2-2.5 hours to consume them post workout and not all in one sitting) this makes sense to me.

he said if u have 50g 8 times per day ur intake is same but ur spike insulin all day long which is anabolic but also counter productive for thermogensis?

holy fukkk this is no such thing as 2 plus 2 = 4 in bb, each has there own theory.

Personally, if I can give my 2 cents, I've tried a few approach and having most of my carbs PWO work best for me as your guy says.

CP says :''Carbs function by raising insulin lower cortisol. Most people immediately think. "Yahoo! I am more anabolic!" NOT. Research now points that cortisol is your friend during training. It is now believed to be the primary signal to induce hypertrophy response.

When you train for strength and/or power, you want maximum focus and drive. That depends on the neurotransmitters dopamine and acetyl-choline. Taking carbs before and during lowers those neurotransmitter levels, taking the wind out of your sales.''

And he said to take some carbs in the morning because insulin sensibility is also good in the morning, but if your sensibility to insulin is not good ie; someone that is fat, taking carbs in the morning can make you feel tired during the day.

Insulin is not necessarily the bad guy...every time you eat...even if it is not direct carb source you will get an insulin spike...its just a bit bigger if you eat more carbs. The entire idea tat we are catabolic in the morning and need to eat carbs or for that matter a meal immediately is complete nonsense. If that were true and we lost muscle that easily we would have died off as a species thousands of years ago. I also dont like eating carbs in the morning mainly because it can lead to less focus through the day and it is not necessary unless you have a very physically demanding job. Timing carbs around training I find is ideal at keeping bodyfat to a minimum and still allowing optimal muscle gains. Pre, itra and post workout is what works best and depending on the level of insulin resistance(BF levels as well) will determine if pre are actually needed. I do eat some carbs for breakfast but in the form of berries only. Starchy carbs pre and post workout and refeeds on the weekends for off season.

ALL my carbs are post workout. I love the results I'm getting with this approach.

DK - how many g post workout and are they all in one shot or all meals after your workout ?

ive gotten away from carbs and one of the things I find helps great with performance ( in all aspects ) is bulletproof coffee ( coffee, butter and MCT or coconut oil ) fat has never tasted so good😄

I usually eat around 150grams in my post workout meal which is also my final meal of the day. Essentially its a carb backloading principle. Working great post show 3 weeks.

Prae and DK, how long do you wait between your training and taking in the carbs PWO ?

Some says if you take your carbs too early PWO, you shut off GH production too soon. That's why they recommend to take protein only right away PWO, wait an hour or so, then take the meal with the carbs to allow maximum GH release, would it be a good idea especially for natty ?

For a natty of course...if running exogenous gh than no it wouldnt matter. I usually have protein immediately after then a full meal about an hour later.

Keifer style with cake and donuts or a bit cleaner than he recommends

Is it okay to immediately consume protein, and 1/2 cup of fruits (say blueberries) PWO? Or should I just drink the protein and eat fruits later..

I personally really enjoy carb backloading and get great results year round, but I can't say if it's more or less effective for anyone else.

I would suggest the protein first and the carbs in the following meal. Fruits are not the best for reloading glycogen to begin with because they are primarily fructose.
