P, I'm 9 days in with the keto diet and staying strong....however today I will pull and or squat to a 1rm and ill probably overload and reverse band it to go higher than my 1rm. Should I take in any carbs today or just stay the course until later in the week??

If you are keto there is no need for carbs period. Youll have plenty of glycogen from trace carbs if you are following a decent keto diet ie DP diet. Eating carbs before will just kick you out of ketosis and make you fel like crap. Ive pulled a 705lb deadlift while on keto at 225lb body weight...and thats after 14 weeks of dieting two weeks out from my first contest.

One good option is MCT oil, you get a boost of clean energy and don't step out of keto!

I would avoid MCT or coconut oil while dieting. You are better off to use a good fat that assists the body in other areas besides energy...this will also improve fat loss.

curious why no coconut oil? it is an oil that is high in medium-chain triglycerides which are very ketogenic (according to wiki).

some therapeutic keto diets utilized medically to control epilepsy contain a significant amount of coconut oil or MCTs. I would think if coconut oil is easily metabolized by the body and is easily converted to ketones, why would we not want to have it in our diet?

It has nothing to do with being ketogenic...all fats are ketogenic by nature. Coconut oil is an MCT and by nature utilized by the body as an energy source. Other healthy fats lets say EVOO are used body for other metabolic processes ie hormone production etc which means they are not preferential fuel. MCT's will be a preferred fuel source...which in some cases may be good if you are looking for an energy boost however i would prefer my body fat be the preferred fuel source because my goal to drop fat as efficiently as possible.
