Your bicep? All that equipment must make it quite pricey.

Don't mean to eavesdrop but my teenage son plays high level rep basketball. We had some tournaments where he was playing 3 or 4 games in 1 day and started to have some real issues with his knee. I heard about Shockwave here in the Niagara area and took him to the Chiropractor that was offering the service. Believe it or not, after 1 treatment he was "almost" pain free. Doc had us come in once a week for 6 weeks and now we're 4 years after the fact and my son has never had another issue with that knee. The cost was supposed to be $400 per session but this particular DC is also a track and field coach and if he sees a young athelete in need of treatment he keeps it much more affordable. He only charged us $50/session, which was covered by my company plan. At 400/session, my plan would have only covered one so we really lucked out. As far as the knee ligaments go, I would highly recommend it.

My wifes shoulder and trap and my bicep...worked well. There was a sales guy going around to chiros offering to sample the service so we took advantage of it. The equipment is quite pricey though...i think 15K.

I am thinking the "free" MRI might drive it up.

Wow, nice! I made some search and from what I can see you need a physician to approve the treatment, I will check this next week.

*scarring not scaring.

*scarring not scaring. Hey Eric, I made the appointment, for my son's knee, without any consult with our Dr. It was still covered by our company plan. If you have back issues you might wanna check with your Dr. first but I don't think you need any approval from him.

Ok cool! Cause the place I found said I need doctor's approval! I will continue to dig around here.

I would not mind going to Toronto for that, but from what I saw, patients usually need weekly visits for a while... am I right ?

Went for my 1st session today, he only did the right side (the worst side) of my lower back to see how it goes, so far I feel 'free', no pain,no stiffness, left side is now the only side I feel pain/stiffness actually. We'll see later if it stay the same. He said it could also help adhesion, we are going to do it eventually on my mid-trap (right) where I have a major adhesion.

So far, so good, but after examination he told me I should avoid squats, DL, leg presses as it push a disk toward the nerve and this is the cause of all spasmes and shockwave cannot help on this.

You should search out a reverse hyper machine and try it out Eric.

Yes this is a machine I would like to have access! Even though it might not change my condition, cause it's not about having a stronger lower back (but I agree it's always good and I would like to) as even the Dr said I great lower back muscles, the problem is even though the shockwave therapy repairs the damages done in the lower back muscle (tearing damages done by having 'locked-up' about a hundred time over the last 25 years) the problem lies in the fact that a herniated disk is sometime touching some nerves and my lower back muscles spasm to protect those nerve, when it does that it create damages and those damages limits my day to day living.

So it seems I might get rid of the damages, but not what cause the damages. Still if it does (I'm still cautious before yelling victory, but it's looking very well) it will improve my day to day life quality!

Today I'm realizing even more how much mobility I have lost over the years, even walking is different now! My lower back was like if someone had poured some glue in it and was so stiff and jammed... and now I feel like if it was removed at once, I can see right away how much more freely I can now move! You have no idea how much 'tricks' I have accumulated over the years to function 'around', like dressing, putting a pair of sock (it can be challenging sometime and you need to develop some technique to be able to do it...) how to just get out of the bed, out of the car, pick up an object off the ground, no being able to sit at the table with friends (have to lay down or stand up) etc...

Today after my training, I did my usual stretching and for the 1st time I could stand-up normally right after! Normally I have pain for a while and I walk like the Pisa tower for a moment before being able to be normally upright.

This is after only session and a partial one, since he only did my worst side! It's very positive so far.

Thank you Cog for posting about this, I was not aware it even existed before.

Where in Toronto did you go?

Went for the second treatment today, mostly for the left side cause right side is all dandy! It's like having a brand new lower back! No pain while doing Leg press, no pain while seated...

I noticed when I did weighted hyper extension 2 days ago, that I suddenly was stronger, moving the weight was easier then usual and I felt the left side (untreated side) was much more pumped then the right side, as if it worked harder. Will see next Monday with both side treated.
