5'8 230lbs 31% body fat. i have never counted calories or paid attention to nutrition so i know thats my start. i have a decent amount of muscle. recently hired a trainer at the gym i go to and so far i have lost 4lbs fat, 1lbs muscle. i have decided it is time to get this show on the road, buckle down and trim it all off.
I am wondering what the best ways of doing this are? What are the best foods for fat loss and what would a good daily calorie goal be? what would some good.supplements be to help me out? i read about a e/c/a stack...... heres the zinger, i own a trucking company and work 7 days on 7 days off so when im home im at the gym but when im on the road i work 15 hour days and live in my truck. need to prepare meals that can last a week in a fridge.
i know this is alot and im sure its been postes 1000 times but i really really do appreciate your ideas and help.

Quit carbs and get a TRX for the road.

Right now when i am home i go to the gym 5 days and when im on the road oil hauling i try and do little things like squats and lunges (which look funny in steel toes and full fire retardent coveralls) walk around fast as much as i can while loading etc.
my gameplan so far is eat lean protiens, lots of chicken and salmon. egg whites with odd yolks and oatmeal for breaky. lots of veggies and dark greens, brown rice in small amounts for fiber and some fruits ie. berries... i already drink more water than anyone i know, but ill cut out all the pops and juices.
i am going to add some suppliments as i mentioned eca and im looking into more. i am guessing that trying to keep under 2000 calories a day would be a good idea and now that i am paying attention 50%30%20%???? ive read alot about nutrition but its mostly towards bulking.

Sounds good for a start but consider the fruit as sugar.Consider your immediate goal to be improving insulin sensitivity.

Get rid of any and all starches, processed food, sugar...completely unnecessary and they will slow fat loss. Berries and veggies for carbs only. Fresh meat, fish, poultry, whole eggs, whey protein, nuts, fish and olive oil. Stay active...walking every day works wonders. Try to get in at least 4 sessions of resistance training weekly.

is it a good idea to have things like dry curd cottage cheese, brown rice, oatmeal, and low g.i. veggies? and do you have a suggestion for roughly how many calories i should be aiming for? thanks in advance.

Like the guys have said you will make faster progress without the carbs, forget the rice and oatmeal like Prae said.

As far as calories you have about 160lbs of lean body mass so maintenance is about 15 cals per lb of LBM = 2400cals depending on how active you are.
