ive been trainning for 4 or 5 months now with only 2 days off per week is it a good Idea to take a week or two off? I really dont want to as my fat loss is really picking up now but also I started doing behind the head wide grip chins and then my shoulder started making a popinng sound. Then it started popping on my wide grip front lat pull downs too. Now its even is tender on chest day. Im thinking a week or 2 off might help and maybe just do some HITT on the eliptical for a while.

I take time off if I and my body feels the need. I thinking if your young and your nutrition is on track you should be fine.

I bet you would come back stronger with some much needed rest.

Every 12 weeks I take 1 week off but eat very clean and focus on stretching and foam rolling.....and every 6 weeks I have a very high rep light weight week to give the joints a break....I have chronic bad knees/shoulders

not really 6+ weeks off then :) and 6+ weeks is a tad much imo unless your recovering from an injury.

oops that ended up kinda large

Unless it's a forced break due to an injury I seldom if ever take time off from the gym, so all in after over 30 years training I've probably taken 6 months off. Oh and you've hurt you rotator cuff so you had best work on rehabbing it or it's only going to get worse and eventually you won't be able to train upper body at all.

How long would you take off to get that healed up? or just go high reps for a while?

Worst exercise you could possibly do for rotator cuffs. Second would be behind the neck lat pulldowns. Barbell upright rows too. All bad ideas.

This, best listen OR be out for an exteneded "unwanted" amount of time. Also, I still dont see a reason to take time off unless its needed period. I used to think it was needed BUT its not if your healthy

I disagree with this, but it's just my opinion. I think a person needs time off, however the amount of time you can go will vary from person to person. I just think that resting before you injure yourself is better than waiting for an injury to give you a reason to rest.

Guess itd depend on a number of factors also ie: diet, type of training....BBer or PL etc

I found some rotator cuff exercises to do. Im not sure how often to do them though. Im thinking Ill take a month off of upper body and just do legs once a week and cardio 4 days a week. Think a month is long enough?

I dont see any reason not to do cardio or legs. I cant run that really irritated it after 30min but if I dont use my hands on the moving handles and just hold the stationary handles Im fine. Might as well lose the rest of my fat this month.

I went to the chiro today and he said its deffinatly not a rotator cuff its just inflamation. Its been a month since Ive done any upper body. I got some anti-inflamation cream from the doctor but havent been using it as it wrecks my shirts. Im going to start using it now though. So is there really any reason for me not to go back to the gym?

Time off is necessary if you train with any kind intensity. There are many many reasons for this and that would be a very long article. However for the most part central nervous system and joint care are two priorities.

Cold be depressed immune system from over stressed CNS. Take 4000iu vitamin D + 2000mg vitamin C every day and take a few days off.

Weight training breaks like deloading and taking time off from working out are a MUST for reaching your goal. Here's the best way to deload and take a week off.
