He's not exactly expounding anything 'new' or something we all haven't heard before. It's just a novelty to hear it from a semi-celebrity in the bodybuilding community but the guy's still a tool. I like how he said he looked the way he did for the money...yeah...right. I'm sure there was a big fat cheque waiting for him BEFORE he took his first shot of synthol. It's a little late trying to back pedal from having become the laughing stock of the bodybuilding community. :puff

It's sad too, when this guy is front-line PR for bodybuilding culture. We shouldn't wonder then when bodybuilding becomes even more discredited in the public eye.

^^^ Well if he didn't make anyting off of what he did, how did he get his own article in MD? I'm sure that pays a little bit. He's famous now, albeit a big tool lol, but he did make great points there. I am a firm believer in listening to your body, it just takes a while to hear it properly. Since I have been more in tune with my body I have not had any injuries in at least 2 years KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!! lol.

Good point. What I'm suggesting however, is that he got his job at MD BECAUSE he's a tool, not because he'd been paid beforehand to simply look like a tool in a fake documentary (Man who's arms exploded). It's like hiring Courtney Love to do the PR work for a serious charity like children with leukemia. Of course she'll raise some publicity because of who she is (and her exploits) but in the end it may do more harm than good..probably even marginalize the charity and put even more focus on her. Greg Valentino is not someone I would want to represent my sport, pure and simple. If I were to want even a small measure of public credibility or to be taken seriously, then he would be gone into obscurity (with all the other 'would be' experts). Yes, he's famous now, simply because he's in the same category as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, etc..

I wouldn't consider him an authority on training, though his comments make some sense. Instinctual training has been around for a LONG time, "Weider principle of instinctual training" anyone? lol I personally don't think this is a productive method in the long run, especially for a natty, but to each his own. I have never used this method/principle and I've only had two injuries in over nineteen years. Anything that provides consistent, steady, achievable, reliable, attainable goals is a good thing though..

as much as I want to say something negative about Greg, he is right for the most part...

Still I want to poke him with a pin and watch him ooze all over the floor.

I used to buy MD and his column was one of the first things I`d read. The guy is very smart and knows his shit. Of course I don`t beleive when he talks about not injecting his arms. Seriously the story he tells like the time Mike Christian knocked out on of the barbarian brothers, or the time the fitness competitor pulled out the enema from his gym bag and explains why he has it has me in tears laughing. I guess I just find him funny because I like immature humour and don`t think I will ever change, proof you don`t have to look at him!

He makes a good point thought that you do need to figure out what works best for you. Listen to your body, don't try to work through the pain like some people do and recognize that you might need a week off every now and then.
