I am honored to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge my wife’s momentous accomplishment at this year’s CBBF Bodybuilding & Women’s Physique Championships. Nicole placed first in the short division and captured the Overall victory to make her the first recipient of a CBBF Women’s Physique title. It is fair to say that in doing so she has set the standard for this category and established a place in the CBBF history books. I am filled with pride for you Nicole; your dedication, commitment and efforts were deservingly rewarded.

Obviously as her husband and as someone who has walked this path I would like to throw some kudos her way as women’s divisions in this sport are generally not held in the same regard as the men’s classes. I myself have been guilty in the past of applying an afterthought to the ladies results once I viewed the men’s placing’s. However as I have seen with my female clients and especially with my wife, some of these women are true athletes who put in the same effort, time and commitment that the men do for half the recognition. Actually I think it is best said they put in more for less; such is the life of a woman, so I’m told. If it is becoming apparent that I am somewhat gushing over Nicole’s achievement, then you are absolutely right. I am thrilled to occupy the role of supporting partner vs. admired competitor.

We never discussed me posting this so in the chance she reads it, you have my apology Beautiful for letting the general public have a glimpse into what we try to retain as very private lives. :bighug

I am most proud of Nicole for her success as she is not a 20 something youngster with limited responsibilities and nothing but time on her hands to train and focus on a show. Nicole proudly fills the following roles in her very busy life: She has a career in the oil and gas industry which sees her sometimes put in 50+ hours a week. She is a mother to an eight year old, a part time student, and on the social committee for her company, a school volunteer and of course my wife. So as you can see it is not only a great triumph for her but an inspiration to many women (and men) that at any age (she is 33) there are no excuses to fulfilling your dreams, be it whatever they may be. Despite attaining an IFBB Pro card in the first ever national women's physique category there is so much more to this lady than meets the eye.

A day in the life of Nicole Fedeluk: The alarm set for 4:45 AM signals the beginning of her morning. She prepares herself and our daughter for the day, heads to daycare for a drop off, then to the gym on an empty stomach for an hour of cardio. She gets ready for work in the change room then catches a train into the city. Most of her weight lifting workouts are crammed into her lunch breaks. At 5:30 PM she is on the train again back to the park & ride where she grabs the car and returns to the gym for a second cardio. On her way home she picks up our little girl at the daycare and then home to prepare dinner for the family (and measure, weigh and portion the next days meals for herself). 2-3 times a week she accompanies our daughter to swimming and dance lessons and then there are the occasional events at school that she volunteers for. Monday night is spent at SAIT advancing her education. A couple more nights a week involve homework, reports and social committee planning. If she manages to get to bed before 10:30 PM, this is a good day.

One last thing about this wonderful woman: Nicole is 100% devoted to living a full rewarding life and providing the same for her family. She willingly chose to participate in a sport where the decreed motto is a 24-7 commitment. Yet despite the accepted norm she still managed to achieve the top honor in the country for her athletic efforts, never relinquishing on her dedication to family or personal life.

I am very proud of you My Love for receiving the acknowledgement you deserved for looking as FINE as you did.:welldone

All I can say is WELL DONE both of you. It's a tough job for anyone to get into contest shape but with your wife's workload outside the gym as well as her busting her ass in the gym you should both be proud, and it just goes to show that if you want something bad enough you'll find a way to make it happen. Congratulations!!

Thanks All,

Nicole is a humble but very competitive athlete. She just does what is asked of her by her trainer (me) and puts 100% confidence in the fact that her efforts will pay off. She is quite removed from the scene and only has one or two girlfriends who also compete. Thus she is not caught up in the chatter on the boards. She is appreciative though that many have offered their congratulations.
