I'm kinda new here but can someone tell me why Jay Cutler eats Asparagus 3 or 4 times a day? I'm currently 285 lbs., and want to be over 300 for next summer, so I'm using Jay's diet as a bit of a guideline. Asparagus makes my piss reek and I'd rather substitute something else. Suggestions? thanks.

LOL the lady doesn't like it ?

I dunno exactly why, but I would guess it's for PH reason, eating lots of meat = low PH (acid) and asparagus is extremely alkaline, so it would help to bring back PH to acceptable levels. For substitute I would go with spinach/leafy greens.

Personally I do not have this problem but perhaps Eric could fill us in on the validity of it since he has some Poliquin training.

Yuck, I'm not really a big vegetable guy but I guess I can suck back some spinach. And you're right, my lady complains about my asparagus reek more than I do. Thanks bro.

Not too sure if he really eats asparagus much offseason but its a good one precontest as it has some mild diuretic properties and I think tastes good personally so use it as a filler when carbs get low.

Asparagus is a fibrous veggie that does not add direct carb content to meals when dieting and is full of vitamins etc...but if you read this about Jay in some magazine dont take it to heart.

Praetorian, I did actually read it in a magazine, some ridiculous 10 meal/day regimen that included 4 meals with 100gr. of beef. Whenever I see things like this, I figure it's got to be to feed the GH. i like Lee Preist's off season weight gaining diet better. Buy a bag of quarter pounder's and Big Mac's in the morning and eat those all day long. Mind you, he does get awfully sloppy looking, at times, in the off season.

oh, 1 more question.....when I read 1 cup of rice, is that dry or cooked? 1 cup of dry rice makes a pretty big whack of cooked rice, (more than I wanna eat at one sitting).

Usually when I see 1 cup of rice it is for cooked. A cup of dry rice is almost 700 calories and 150g carbs when cooked.

That's what I was hoping, can't stand rice for the most part, would rather suck back a couple of potatoes.

As far as following a pro's nutritional plan/diet I wouldn't bother as more than likely it's what he or she ate that day or week and as nutrition is quite specific to the individual what works great for Jay probably won't work as well for anyone else.

When i took Biosignature, Poliquin said that asparagus pee is a matter of genetics:you don't have a certain gene if your pee smells.

To keep your body alkaline: lemon water, green leafy veggies or spirulina will do it.

Stop eating shitty food

You're right warlock, I actually thought I had a pretty good diet until I started reading this forum and what the serious builder's eat. I don't eat a lot of garbage, much healthier than most people I know, but nowhere near as healthy as these people.
