Hey guys! I thought I could share a great experience I had in my vacation (still there, will be back tomorrow). We usually go to great snorkeling / free diving places as I really like to do underwater photography and my wife like beaches. And this year we went 2 weeks in Grand Cayman Island and we encountered a wild dolphin in the ocean, I spent about an hour with him!! He was a kinda friendly but also when someone (he drew a lot of attention) was too near or wanted to touch him he shown some aggressiveness / serious warning (jaw popping), as you will see in the video he seemed to like me and was around me a lot, even he touched me, swam around me and jumped around me! It was really great, worth sharing IMO.

Here is a video of the experience :

As you can see he was pretty big, I would say between 8 and 9 feet, huge compared to the usual dolphins we see in captivity. My kid tried to touch him, but he turned and did some jaw popping near his legs.

All in all Grand Cayman is an awesome place for snorkeling/diving, I pictured a nurse shark about a feet from his face, saw big & nice stingrays, my son even touched one (flew away pretty fast), saw a HUUUGE turtle, I mean really huge, like it hate all the turtle I saw in my life... saw nice huge tarpons, nice other fishes, saw a 250 feet wreck, nice coral/reef... really a place visiting for the divers or free divers like me.

wow....that's some great vids and pics. i didn't think you could get that close to wild dolphins.....what are you using to take pics and vid since i don't think those $20 underwater cameras at shoppers drug mart are what you're using?

post more pics, i find it interesting, myself.

Me neither, wild dolphins in my previous experience are very hard to get close too! It was amazing, even the locals were amazed when I told them and they could not believe the video! I've heard the dolphin was in this bay for the last 2 weeks and that he has bitten someone that tried to touch him last week.

I have a point & shoot Canon G10 (bought in 2009 IIRC), I also bought the waterproof case that goes specifically with it! I have took thousands of pics with it. On this trip alone I have 800 pics and videos (this is after dropping more then half of those I took).

Here is some more shots from this trip, when home I'll upload a few mores videos/picsI'm actually stuck at Pearson airport, my plane is delayed 5 hours wait...

This is a video of an angel fish.

This is the nurse shark on video, it's not great because the current and waves were heavy in this area, but it's as close as could get without hitting myself on the reef.
