My buddy is experiencing a large lump on his glute after an injection of sust(half a baseball size) is this an infection, or has anyone had this happen?Had it happen several times, while its impossible to judge from a post if he has an infection brewing getting a large sore swollen spot from sust is certainly in the range of normal experience, I have only used HG sust and I have had a couple "bad shots" where that very thing happened, just tell him to really keep an eye on it watching for redness or an increase in the swelling, if it continues to grow larger or get red and feel hot its time to get honest with his doc and have it looked at. My doc told me what i just told you, to "keep an eye on it and come back if it gets any worse which it didnt, it will slowly subside in 3-5 days most likely.

Tell him to see a doctor. I'll never understand why some Canadians don't take advantage of our free health care in Canada. Possible infections can also equal possible surgery. Dont mess around with that.

If it's shortly after the injection, and it was a large amount, then the lumps can get quite large. They should decrease in time though. I get small ones on my glutes and had a massive one the day I decided to try putting 3cc into my calf. Dunno wtf I was thinking there. But ya... they do go down, keep an eye on it.

If we're talking 4-5 days and he's still got a baseball on his ass then as MrRight said, take advantage of our free health care and get it checked out.

I'm going through painfully shots and if things get worse after day1-3 then you've got problems.

I had something like you are describing on my delt last year...not quite a baseball but more like the size of a lemon, red and at times very itchy. I left it alone and it cleared, but it took 2 weeks. I think I was shooting my delts too often (I would rotate between the 2 every week. Left Monday, Right Thursday) because they are my favorite spot.

I would ask your friend if he has been hitting the same spot...it may be the same problem.

Good luck

Sorry guys but a half of baseball size is big. Something to be concerned about....hence why you should leave that side of your ass alone for good....

everyone will get these occasionally. from experience...wait a few days, if its bigger, then hit a doctor, if it seems to be getting smaller, then it should dissapate. i would suggest popping some advil until it is gone though.

In retrospect I probably should have gone to the doctor, but as I am sure you already with the Ontario doctor shortage it takes me 2-3 weeks to even see my MD...

No! I here ya....it's a pisser no doubt. Lump or no lump....don't shot in that area again....if it's not hot to the touch...then it's more then likely scar tissue.....and no that will never dissipate. Take your temperature at home to make sure you don't have a fever or anything of the sort. Worst case...they have to drain it...or get some antibiotics.

Well that was Jan/Feb 2007...I still mainly use my delts and have not had a problem. I think I was not rotating enough and the muscle was very irratated. I rotate more now and haven't had a problem.

Hows this for rotation and this not because I dart myself allot...but give it time to heal. Right shoulder/chest/bicep/butt/quad...then over to the other side left shoulder/chest/bicep/butt/quad :)

Plus I nuke in the microwave till it's warm to the touch ..this way it absorbs quicker so there is no chance of a lump to form...Mind you I never go over 1.5 cc per site. Stick to that and you shouldn't have a problem.

Actually I had forgot o mention something my doc told me when i had a simular lump, its most likely not from scarring, i have run about 8-9 cycles of sust and always shoot only in the ass, i doubt its scar tissue as that just makes it harder to inject it in, doesnt cause the lump, my doc told me it was from doing the injection too shallow, that the oil was trapped between a layer of skin and fat and a deeper injection should prevent it in the future, dunno how true that was but it is what he said when i showed it to him. He also said the shallow shot was a waste of the steroid and i should reinject a deeper shot if that was of concern to me as the shallow one was "wasted".

I use an inch dart....but always push it in more...so I'm getting a deeper shot.

That free healthcare is about 40% of your taxes.

Last thing we need is more people with no problems seeing the doc.

Yeah but look at it like this, some people should've gone and seen their doctors but they chose not too and now they're dead. Case in point, the Ottawa citywide meningitis outbreak in the early 90's. I remember getting shots at school for meningitis all because a teenage girl died the week prior. She felt fine, according to her parents, they thought she had the flu and didn't need to go see the doc. You pay your taxes, use the system.
